Teatro Verde was designed in 1952 by Luigi Vietti and Angelo Scattolin and built with materials left over from the Island's restoration. Reached by tree-lined paths that link the theatre from the core of the park to the rest of the Island, its lower and upper circles seat 1484 spectators on stepped rows of white Vicenza stone divided by box-hedges, according to ancient Roman and Greek theatres and Veneto teatri di verzura.

The ensemble and the musical formation have both been chosen to recall the exact situation in which Vivaldi worked and reproposes in its concerts the athmosphere and the genio of the Red Priest' compositions. The Orchestra was born with the intention and the honor of paying tribute to the great composer in the prestigious Ateneo di San Basso, in San Marco square, whose hall has the same dimensions of the Pieta Institue music hall, in which Vivaldi composed.

Walked into this music hall and was enthralled by the setting. Tickets were easy to get directly from the front desk and had seats (free seating) right up in front. Having the musicians playing up close and to see their passion as they played were an awesome experience.

Recommended by the New York Times in the article "36 Hours in Venice," Venice Music Project presents its fourth season of concerts, taking you back in time to the era when Venice was a musical center of international prestige. Together, we will discover the great tradition of music in the Veneto, performed with original instruments and performance practices, in the prestigious Palazzo Rota Ivancich, where Hemingway and Liszt were among the many important guests. Our resident orchestra, Venetia Antiqua, will also host prestigious ensembles from around the world. An important part of our mandate is the restoration of the places where we perform and the works of art that they contain, to help the city to remain alive for our own and future generations. This will be possible through our US501c3 non-profit organization, Friends of Venice Music Project, our Italian Associazione Culturale for European donations, and additionally a portion of box office receipts.

The Rétro was opened in order to offer visitors a unique experience in Venice: a peaceful place to relax accompanied by good jazz in an old-fashioned atmosphere. In addition to a selection of regional wines, we also offer beers, cocktails, a selection of high-quality cold cuts and cheeses, as well as coffee and artisanal cakes.
It's not that easy to find (locate the Church Santi Apostoli, get around to its back and enter the little alleyway) but it was definitely worth a visit. Comfy chairs, elegant interior, Jazz music and an excellent cheese platter - this place is highly recommended and we will certainly pay it another visit in the future!

Home for international and experimental contemporary music, dance and theatre, Teatro Fondamenta Nuove is one of the most popular venue in town. From Uri Caine to Virgilio Sieni, from Bjork to Romeo Castellucci, Matmos and Teatrino Clandestino, William Parker and Babilonia Teatri, Mouse on Mars and Barcelò are only few of the great artists who performed in this theatre.
