While transiting the Laurel Highlands we were looking for an evening cultural activity and came across this on TripAdvisor. We saw a local production of Tommy by The Who and the musicians and cast were great. We visited with the friendly volunteers and had a great meal in the downtown after we parked. The facility has been improved upon with a diner/concession stand and beautiful patio. So close to Pittsburgh ! Hoping to return they have a great mix of tribute bands and national acts on the schedule.

The Mountain Playhouse has been producing live, professional, Equity theater in the Laurel Highlands since 1939. The theater is a former grist mill which was discovered in Roxbury, Somerset County. It was dismantled log by log and moved to its current site in 1939. The theater opened on June 24, 1939, with a production of "High Tor." The theater is nestled in a beautiful lakeside setting just off Route 30 in Jennerstown, PA.
My friends and I have been going to the Mountain Playhouse every season for a number of years. We always have a good time as the staff is very nice, the actors are professional and always give a wonderful performance, and the plays or musicals are always good. Last year, I saw 3 plays and this year I will be attending 4 plays, one farce, two comedies and one musical. We are looking forward to another entertaining season. I usually see at least 3 plays per season and am never disappointed.

This Theatre was renovated a few years ago and is stunning! We came here to see a live show and it was excellent! There is also a small intimate theatre in the attic too!
