Teatro del Bicentenario is a performing arts theatre where the audience can enjoy different artistic expressions such as ballet, contemporary dance, concerts, theatre, circus arts and opera. In fact, with the new and diverse types that the performing arts have acquired over the years, practically everything that can take place on a stage is suitable to be appreciated in this venue, which its artistic programming works as a great festival throughout the year. A premise governs the different aspects that here congregate, a profound care for the quality of the performances and for surprising the audience every time the curtain rises.

Steven’s show was incredibly entertaining. He sings and has a great voice, he tells stories which makes you really like him personally, he’s a great dancer, and of course, amazing pole dancer. I was very inspired by his confidence and talent.

Opened in 1886, this large neo-Classical building is home to the city's opera and orchestra.
I’m staying near the Teatro Degollado and I walked past it a few times. This morning was quiet and cool and I stopped at the small cafe for breakfast. The server was very nice and polite, considering my terribly limited Spanish. The food was delicious. I recommend the chilaquiles rojo with an iced coffee. Sitting beside the old and beautiful architecture, feeling the breeze, watching couples and families and performers film and take pictures (it’s a very photogenic plaza and a lot of ppl were taking advantage of that) was a great way to start my day.

Restored movie theater in downtown Mazatlan.
Over the last 24 years of going to Mazatlan we have always trued to see performances at Angela Paralta. We have never been disappointed. They bring in great talents and interesting performances. They have everything from traditional Mexican shows to opera, ballet, classical music, etc. Most are in English during tourist season. The prices are very reasonable. Go on a Friday or Sat. night and also enjoy Plaza Machado (1/2 block away) and its outdoor vendors and restaurants.

The famous ballet troupe known for the discipline provided by its founder Doña Amalia Hernández.
First of all, seeing any show in the Palacio would be worth --the building is an architectural and historical masterpiece that was once home to Hernán Cortés. The second floor walls are adorned with murals painted by Diego Rivera to portray the history of Mexican civilization, and it's fabulous to stand right in front of them and absorb the detail. (There is no admission fee, incredibly.) The Ballet itself is delightful visually and musically, and it also tells the story of Mexican history, from the Aztecs to the modern day. Costumes are beautiful, and talented dancers are full of talent and spirit. The evening felt like another example of the strong cultural pride that seemed so evident to us on this trip.. We left the theatre and had a leisurely walk through the Alameda Central (famously depicted in yet another Rivera mural) to our hotel. Considering the bitter cold we usually feel in New England in late February, this was particularly appreciated!

Part theater, part art gallery, featuring folk art for sale and folk dance and music performances.
Awesome venue to see this incredible band. Great sound and lighting. Every seat appeared to have a really good view of the stage.
