A converted 19th Century Chapel, The Headgate Theatre has a full and varied programme of professional and amateur events including drama, musical theatre, live music, dance and many other varieties of performance. The building boasts a fantastic 87 seat theatre, a rehearsal and dance studio, a rehearsal room with a capacity for 60 people, a meeting room for up to 24 people and a lounge/bar area.
what a fantastic little theatre- manned by volunteers, who are very welcoming. Small audience made for an intimate atmosphere to hear Joanna perform, with the backing of a trio of talented, yet unassuming musicians. Atmosphere dropped a bit when "Guest performer" came on - but otherwise a great evening - and only £15.

The Electric Palace cinema, Harwich, is one of the oldest purpose-built cinemas to survive complete with its silent screen, original projection room and ornamental frontage still intact. Other interesting features include an open plan entrance lobby complete with paybox, and a small stage. There is also a former gas powered generator engine with a 7 foot fly wheel situated in the basement. It is currently closed for major restoration. Please check the website for further updates.

To encourage new, fresh and emerging talent and to provide creative, innovative and interesting theatre and arts entertainment to the people of Braintree and beyond. Opened in 2011, we host a varitey of different performances ranging from classic Shakespeare to The Beatles tribute act and everything in between.
Saw Dire Streets here last Friday, our first time visiting this venue. The facilities were all excellent and seating comfortable. Bar prices reasonable which made for an enjoyable night out. Dire Streets were a fantastic band and well worth seeing if, like me, you grew up with the original.

We are so very lucky to have such a treasure in Southend. There is so much to see at The JazzCentreUK and live jazz by brilliant and talented jazz musicians on Saturday afternoons, there are workshops for young budding musicians and during the week films, and jazz music, sale of vinyls, there are many collections and memorabilia from some of the greats.. Satchmo, Humphrey Littleton, Johnny Dankworth and many more fascinating exhibits. Pop in any day except Sunday and Monday and check it out and pick up the program of what goes on there.

Free the fun in you! The Mercury exists to put theatre at the heart of the cultural life of the community it serves and to make work in Colchester that reaches audiences and generates critical attention regionally and nationally.
Went to see Jack and the Beanstalk yesterday with our two children aged 11 and 5. Brilliant as usual. We've been going to the pants for the last few years and it's always entertaining with fantastic cast - the dame is hilarious. Fantastic seats in row C which were comfy and with a great view - but then wherever you sit you'd get a good view. So lucky to have this theatre on our doorstep with easy parking facilities close by. We'll be booking again for this year's panto.

Established on the current Clacton site in 1899, and run independently by the West Cliff Trust, the West Cliff is the only surviving purpose-built theatre in Clacton, and plays host to professional touring shows and many local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, dance schools, and other youth groups. Its compact auditorium with just under 600 seats, a unique atmosphere and knowledgeable and friendly staff make it Clacton's theatre of choice for artistes and audiences alike. The Stage Door Bar is open prior to, during the interval and after each show, and provides pre-booked meals for selected shows. The lounge may be hired for private functions with or without bar and catering services.
What a find! A lovely place to enjoy a delicious home cooked lunch, sandwiches or home made cakes at reasonable prices in pleasant surroundings and lovely welcoming staff. We always look forward to going there when we have to visit Clacton hospital as it is just across the road. Do give it a try!
