Vancouver was founded as “Gastown” by an Englishman with a penchant for beer and storytelling. Today Gastown is a historic section of the Canadian metropolis, and the lively pubs still reflect the area’s former status as a sort of community drinking center. The city’s forests, grand parks, and impressive suspension bridge beckon travelers to explore them, as do the city’s shops and museums. Relive the glory of the 2010 Winter Games with visits to Olympic venues and the marvelous Olympic Cauldron.

Built in 1906, the Firehall building functioned as Vancouver's No. 1 Firehall and the first motorized Firehall until 1975 when the Firemen moved out and the arts moved in. After a variety of tenants the Firehall Theatre Society was formed in 1982 and currently operates as one of the busiest venues in Vancouver.

We were here as a group of 4 for the Day Before Christmas theater production. This event was most enjoyable, and made even more so by the venue itself. The large foyer/atrium area is quite impressive, and a great area to enjoy a pre-show drink. The theater itself provides excellent viewing from all seats - you feel almost as though you are part of the stage play yourself. Good parking available nearby under the Urban Fare grocery store.

Constantinople is a musical ensemble based in Montreal that features early and middle eastern music.. this performance featuring the poetry and influences of Rumi provided a mesmerizing evening of song and music that had the audience on their feet with full appreciation of the quality of their performance... we have followed Rumi Poetry since university and Robert Bly and Coleman Barks have added to our appreciation of his poetry...Constantinople is a group not to be missed..
