The Detroit Repertory Theatre is Michigan's longest running, nonprofit, professional theatre located in the geographical heart of Detroit. Its mission is to produce the best theatre while utilizing indigenous professional artists; provide training for a professional life in theatre; play a part in neighborhood revitalization; provide cultural enrichment opportunities for the uninitiated and the physically, mentally, economically and socially challenged; and demonstrate the power of diversity acting in unity.
We missed those small theatres from our old days in Chicago. I had a hard time finding this place but was happy I did. We watched the ‘The House on Poe Street’ on Saturday night. Great play, awesome performers. The other couple who went with us enjoyed the play as well. We recommend the place and we will definitely go back.

We had our wedding at the Gem last week and wish we could have it again and again! The Gem was so professional and easy to work with. They helped us execute the most epic wedding in history! Our friends and family traveled to Detroit from around the world and raved about the Gem Theatre, our ceremony, the drinks, the food and the overall ambience of the venue. Everyone from the sales managers to the day of staff was top notch. We highly recommend the Gem Theatre to anyone who wants to have the most seamless, amazing celebration!!

The old Grand Circus Theater was transformed into this opera house.
We were there to see “Jesus Christ Superstar” and it was a very enjoyable evening. The show and a prior dinner made a nice total evening.
