The Chicago Philharmonic is a musician-governed not-for-profit organization founded 25 years ago by principals from the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra. Today, the orchestra is a collaboration of over 200 of the highest-level classical musicians performing in the metropolitan Chicago area, and has consistently won accolades from music critics and audiences alike. The orchestra's symphonic concerts at Pick-Staiger Hall and Nichols Concert Hall cover the full spectrum of classical music, from the masters of Baroque to the composers of today. The Chicago Philharmonic is proud to serve as the official orchestra for the Joffrey Ballet and to have maintained a partnership with Ravinia Festival for 20 years. The orchestra has appeared at high profile Chicago venues including Symphony Center, Auditorium Theatre, Harris Theater and Chicago Theatre. They have performed with artists as diverse as Josh Groban, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and the Houston Ballet, and have presented works as varied as Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, John Adams' Gospel According to the Other Mary, and Stravinsky's Rite of Spring.

I’ve been to SPACE for concerts and for the Moth. It is an intimate place to really experience performance art of all kinds. Highly recommend it.

The Oil Lamp theatre in downtown Glenview is a real treat to attend. The theatre itself is very small and intimate, the actors do a great job and the offerings are always well suited to the tiny space. The theatre was originally an invitation only home production that has expanded into it’s current 60 seat venue while maintaining the same intimacy of a living room. There are always home made cookies and hot cocoa in the winter. Patrons are invited to bring a bottle of wine to be enjoyed before the show and during intermission. You will be personally greeted at the door and thanked for coming. The company offers four plays per season with an annual holiday rendition of A Radio Play of It’s a Wonderful Life with a Christmas tree set up in the living room lobby. Oil Lamp is a truly feel good place to enjoy intimate theatre.

Often the ticket holders are not allowed into their seats until 15-20 mins before showtime, but there is a small lobby offering drinks and snacks early. not a lot of seating, so if you want to relax with refreshment, get there early to have a table and chairs. The theatre seating itself is great. The boxes are fun to enjoy also. The location of this theatre is 100% better than going into the Loop.
