The museums of Lisbon celebrate the rich history and culture of this Portuguese capital city. The Maritime Museum is perfect for kids (and grown-ups!) who adore all things nautical, while the Casa-Museu Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves is a hidden gem of colorful artwork. To fully appreciate the city’s dramatic stone architecture you can take a guided walking tour, or customize your own tour, making sure to visit the Padrao dos Descobrimentos, the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, and the UNESCO World Heritage site the Torre de Belem.

Art gallery, book store and a venue for gigs, this is mostly known among locals offering a superb line up of artists from what I have seen. Great spot.

Fado Inside the Box is a nocturnal Fado experience during the day at the heart of Bairro Alto. Performed live every day at 5pm at "Sala da Fadistagem" (Fado room), one has for 60 minutes an intensive contact with the Fado sounds and emotions while tasting Portuguese Wine and Tidbits, specialities of our cuisine. The intimate setting provides a perfect opportunity to interact with our performers and to better know the history and traditions of Fado.
Having not listened to Fado before this is a great introduction. One hour in length in the early evening so with wine a nibbles a great way to start the evening

In 1937 it was named "Barrete Verde" but soon iit was changed to the final name that acquired national and international fame: ADEGA MACHADO. Today one may find a Fado House that renders homage to its history, to the founders and to all those who have added their personal and professional experiences to the memories of ADEGA MACHADO. In the Fado, Amalia Rodrigues proved her affection to this House with two yearly galas; the charismatics Alfredo Marceneiro and Fernando Mauricio came back many times. There are many to be named, but amongst those the interpreters Manuel Fernandes, Francisco Carvalhinho, Raul Nery, Adelino Santos, Beatriz da Conceicao, Maria Amelia Proenca, Maria da Fe and Mariza. The space was totally refurbished based on a new project, with a total preservation of the famous tiled facade and in the interior an area was created to display the large collection of historical images: paintings, drawings and photographs, property of the Machado Family. There is now an additional area, the Wine Cellar that serves traditional tidbits together with a large choice of Portuguese wines.
