Kimono & Tea Ceremony Experience near Golden Pavilion Kyoto You can experience authentic Japanese tea ceremony in that you can drink tea that a host makes and also tea you make by yourselves. Our session was chosen by many VIP guests invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and we have received the handwriting calligraphy from 15th grand master of Urasenke school. The main stream of Kyoto’s English tea ceremony is that a host will make tea as a demonstration and then customers will tea by themselves. However, in the real tea ceremony, it is impossible for customers to make tea by themselves. Also, the taste of tea changes depending on how you make tea. In our plan, you can have tea that a host makes and the one that you make as well.  Organic matcha tea made in UJI KYOTO and Japanese cookie (dried sweet) is included in this course.

My wife and I had planned to visit Japan this year but couldn't go due to the pandemic. This virtual tour was a great way to experience Kyoto. Our guide Akiko was wonderful! She's super knowledgeable about the area and really added to the whole experience. Akiko didn't just show us the beautiful locations in Gion, but has very interesting stories about them. Thanks very much for a fantastic experience Akiko; hope to visit in person when travel restrictions are removed!

If I'm honest this was a hard sell for the kids as a concept. Sample quote: "I don't like tea". In fact - it totally opened up Kyoto for us. The setting is sublime - a beautiful temple - and the lady was very kind to explain about how to hand wash. This really gave us confidence that we knew how to behave when we visited the 'touristic' temples later in the week. The ceremony itself was beautiful and help our (young and bouncy) family's attention. The lady explained 'ichi-e ichi--go' , and we referred back to that in the rest of our Japan trip to understand other parts of Japan culture. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

I booked a virtual tour of Kyoto's traditional Higashiyama neighborhood from Amazon Explore. We had the pleasure and good fortune to have Akemi as our tour guide. She spoke good English and was very accommodating to our requests for pictures, shopping, and information. We truly felt the Japan experience and enjoyed it so much, we want to do more travel explore segments. We had been to Japan but somehow missed this beautiful neighborhood. Akemi engaged the local people and introduced them to us and they would take the time to say hello! We saw geishas and couples getting married. Then Akemi helped us look for souvenirs, which we have already received back in the U.S.! The best part was Akemi writing on a monkey wish souvenir and hanging it at the temple. We are planning a trip to Japan and were so impressed with Akemi, we definitely will try to contact her for tour services and thank her in person for such a wonderful experience.

After the ride, your guide will walk with you and take you to the beautiful bamboo forest and Tenruji Temple. You will also meet monkeys at the park in Iwatayama!
