Enjoy a 3-hour walking tour in Bihor county and explore the city of Oradea and its cultural highlights with your guide. Oradea, the capitol city of Bihor county, is one of the important economic, social and cultural centers of north-western Romania. The city is holding on to these characteristics throughout its history. Oradea is nestled among hills that divide and unify the Crisana Plains and the hill-like limits of the Apuseni Mountains in a harmonious way. Located on the Crisul Repede River, which divides the city into almost equal halves, Oradea is the gateway to Central and Western Europe. Located about 10 km from Bors – the biggest border point on the western border – Oradea ranks tenth in size out of the Romanian cities. The price is per group for up to 10 tourists.

Very well done & truly fascinating, to still see the bones from the killed animals was really interesting. The caves were huge & very well kept. Also it was very easy to walk through the caves & a guide is included in the very low entrance fee. Please go & enjoy it.

This tour will allow the clients to see the most known cave from Romania "The Bear's Cave " from Chiscau, a village situated at around 90 km away from Oradea. We will descend into the depths of the Bears Cave finding an extraordinary range of stalagmite and stalactite formations, coupled with traces of bears from many years ago. The cave was named so, as numerous "cave bears" (Ursus spelaeus) were found in this cave. The cave was visited by these large animals more than 15.000 years ago. But one day, a rock slide closed the entrance while more than 140 bears were still in the cave. Becoming hungry, the bears killed one another until all were dead. This story is told by their remains, tons of bear bones covering the floor of large parts of the cave with the marks of bear teeth.

My husband and I visited Oradea in early June and wanted to see not only some of the highlights of the city but also specific attractions. My parents grew up in Oradea and I wanted to see the Cris river (on whose banks my dad walked with his first girlfriend), the Jewish conservative synagogue and the place where the Jews were taken to the camps by train (now a park). Arin was highly personable, knowledgeable and flexible and made our tour a delightful experience. He started by showing us the fascinating Oradea citadel (a must-see), whose moat with hot water from thermal springs kept invaders at bay. It is believed to be the best preserved citadel in Europe built in the Renaissance style, erected between the years 1077-1095 by King Ladislau I. (In the beginning it was a fortified monastery, later it was transformed into a citadel, which became the headquarters of the Roman-Catholic Diocese of Oradea.) Arin then took us to the open market (really, it had some kind of a roof to protect u s from the elements), huge in size, and offering a great variety of beautiful produce, fruits and vegetables), and flowers. He then walked us through parts of the beautiful city and its varied architecture, pointing out all sorts of interesting things, and then walked with us, continuing to explain everything, to the sites we wanted to see, including some new ones that he thought we might want to see (he was right). Arin is a superb guide. His English is flawless, he is fun to be with, accommodating, helpful and dedicated to giving his clients the best possible experience. I recommend not only this particular walking tour (which, for us, was memorable), but also Arin as a guide. We felt so fortunate to have found him.
