Idrissi and Mourad made for an incredible trip to Fez. Everyone at this company follows Covid safety guidelines, and we felt very safe. The drive to Fez was breathtaking, and totally different than the other parts of the country we had visited. Mourad took us to a nice rest stop for a break along the drive. The ride was comfortable, with reclining seats, A/C, sanitizer, water, etc... In Fez, we met up with our guide, Idrissi, who has been a tour guide in Fez for about 40 years! He has an extremely extensive knowledge of the city of Fez, and gave us the experience of having a friendly, scholarly historian as a guide. We could tell right away that Idrissi is very well respected in Fez, by how locals would greet him so happily through the city. He is very well dressed and polite. We felt lucky to have him as a guide. We started by driving through the new Medina, then got out by the Royal Palace and walked through the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter. He pointed out the various gates and walls of the Medinas, and even knew how old they were. He pointed out which areas of the walls were from different times. We walked to Fes El Bali, the oldest neighborhood in Fez, and thought to be the oldest in-tact Medina in the world. There we got to see both sides of the famous Bab Boujloud gate, which has a completely different view from either side, and an amazing story behind its design. We got to see the outside of the Medersa Bou Inania, the Mosquee Al Qaraouiyine (which was one of the oldest universities in the world), and Medersa Attarine, (due to Covid, we couldn’t go inside). We walked through the Souk District, home of the local craftwork, where Idrissi was an expert at navigating. He also is very knowledgeable about which shops have quality handmade goods, and which shops to avoid. We are vegan, so Idrissi customized the trip for us, and skipped past the meat market and camel leather areas for us, which was very nice of him. He only took us to things that we were interested in seeing, and things that he knew we would appreciate. We got to go into the Nejjarine Museum of cedar wood, which displays artifacts of all of the various ways Moroccans used cedar wood from the Atlas Mountains from the 14th century to now. Idrissi also took us to many amazing lookout points with breathtaking views and photo-ops. Something we really appreciated was how he made sure that we did not feel pressure to buy things, and made sure the shop owners were not pushy. He picked quality places to take us to, especially for lunch. We had a personalized traditional Moroccan meal in an immaculate restored traditional home, with detailed carvings, mosaics, and artwork from floor to ceiling. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was great. We finished our tour with a tour of a ceramic school and workshop, which is a craft especially important to Fez. On the way out, we stopped at the top of a hill with a panoramic view of the Medinas we walked through, and the Merenid Tombs. Then, we had a nice drive home. I highly recommend seeing Fez this way. Idrissi is the best guide you’ll find in Fez!

Based on recommendations of friends, we booked a tour with Adventure Morocco Tours. Ali put together a good itinerary, the riads were beautiful (with one exception), and he even surprised me with having a birthday cake at one dinner. His guides were very knowledgeable. That said..... Our flight from Casablanca to Fez was cancelled. When Royal Air Maroc put us on a different (and later) flight, I tried several times to call Ali with the new flight info and also emailed him. He never answered, and there was no one there to meet us. We had to make our way ourselves to the riad. That was quite challenging. Ali spends most of his time on the phone. He has too much going on. And way too many stops for a smoke. To us, the worst part was that he does not always honor his word. First example - he said he would see us that night at the desert camp. He never showed. On our way to Essourria (sp?), he said he might have to switch us to a different guide as a woman from Russia wanted him for a private tour. When we expressed our displeasure, he said he would remain our guide. My wife even left some clothes in his vehicle. That night we got an email from him saying his cousin would pick us up for the trip to Fez. We were not happy. We asked him about my wife's clothes. He said he would drop them at the riad in Fez; he did not do so. On our day of departure, we contacted him, and he said he would mail them. Ten weeks later, still no clothes (not a surprise as he does not have our address). Highly recommend visiting Morocco. Would select a different tour agency.

Its a nice drive to the Paradise Valley. When we arrived been welcomed by 3 wild dogs who went walking with us. When we actually arrived at the Valley was so disappointed, the place is full of rubbish, chairs and tables in the lake :( The man lake where you use to be able to do cliff jumping was dry ( no rain for 3 years ) wish they have told us about it as that was the main reason we went, we actually wanted to swim in it. Overall it was still nice site seeing and nice walk.
