The Hawaiian island of Maui is a destination for true nature lovers. The ethereal bamboo forest and churning waterfalls in Haleakala National Park can be explored via the Waimoku Falls Trail. Stretch out on warm, golden sands or hit the surf for an unforgettable windsurfing or snorkeling session. Driving the scenic road to Hana along the island’s northeastern shore will be among the most spectacular journeys of your life. Time stands still at the Hawaiian village of Keanae, definitely worth a visit.

We make it to this lovely church at least once during our annual visit to Kaanapali. It's welcoming, comfortable and inspiring. The Tongan choir is great.

We were fortunate to have a priest visiting from Oahu that gave a very enjoyable homily with stories, parables, and humor. At the 5:30 p.m. mass, we heard a terrific choir who even sang the psalm verses in harmony as well as Hawaiian language in some songs. I counted about 10 singers. They sang a cappella with a conductor in front. They sang with such bravado and forte volume that you would think that there were 30 singers. No AC so dress accordingly.

My boyfriend and I usually attend Awakening Church whenever we vacation in Maui, and this past ChristmasI was glad to be able too share my "vacation church" with my Aunt when she attended services with me just before Christmas. Pastor Stephen shares the gospel from the heart, with authenticity and without condemnation. I return each time and leave services with a lightened spirit and lifted heart. God Bless Pastor Stephen, his wife Amber, their family and the Awakening Congregation, who are always warm and welcoming!

Cozy church seating about 150. Carved wood altar. Beautiful, simple stained glass windows behind the altar. They open the windows/doors all around, so it is almost like an open-air mass. Mass had multiple Hawaiian songs, ukulele, guitar, piano and choir with native-Hawaiian appearing choir members, nuns, servers etc, making it a cultural experience too. So glad to attend mass here! Tip is to get there early, as parking is ok, but you park further and further away as the lots fill up going up the hill. it was very much standing room only when I was there (some seats up in the loft), and Many were standing on the main level in a January mass. Still way worth it.

WE were on our way to the hotel after visiting Iao Park. We decide to stap and see what this was like. It turns out that the church was named after Queen Ka'ahumanu when it was built in 1876. It is a large church and there is a lot of history in it so you can learn that the queen was an early Christian.

Where Charles Lindbergh is buried.
Truly off the beaten path from the Hana Highway (Road to Hana); actually, it's past Hana. I'm actually amazed we found this church location and somehow missed the Pools at O'hea. I think I was motivated to find Charles Lindbergh's grave site; located behind the little church and on the grounds. So, you really have to look for the small sign on the left past Hana. The road itself looks and is a little scary, but it's not long before you will arrive. You'll know because you will see first the parking area and the little church. The church has quite a history in itself, but I was impressed by its simplicity and natural beauty inside and outside. Let's just say it has loads of "mana". It's lovely in its own way. Also, it is extremely well card for by some loving people and organizations. We highly recommend you take the time to find this holy place for just the church. While you're there, go find the gravesite of the famous Charles Lindbergh!
