Beautiful church with a real sense of peace inside. The area around it is lovely to wander round and there is a beach you can walk to.

Through the village of Ialysis up to an ancient Filerimos Monastery and 14th Century Church. The mosaic floor in the innermost chapel dates from 6th C AD. We also walked up the 865ft hill to see the huge cross. The route had bronze reliefs of the Stations of the Cross. Amazing views from the top. Peacocks everywhere! 6 Euros entrance, 3 Euros for over 65s.

I looked for the little church ,I had to ask a Greek about its location in a very narrow medieval street ,the entrance seemed to me so strange .I had read about the saint Fanourious and about the lost icon .Once inside I was amazed by the small dimensions of the church ,rebuilt in the 14 th century ,just on the site where the icon of the saint was discovered .It was so dark inside ,I tried to take a few photos ,two young Greeks were praying inside and they told me that the saint is protecting the people who lose their items .I was impressed by the medieval frescoes .The church is open daily ,9-12 ,16-19 ,free admission.
