This place is historical but it’s not heavy or overwhelming with too much historical data. The garden grounds are very calming and it’s easy to walk through it while enjoying the magnificent architecture. The view at the back facing the Bosphorus is amazing and be sure to check out one of the rooftop coffee shops before leaving

HURREM SULTAN or Roxelana was born in Rohatyn(present day Ukraine) around 1506, captured and sent to Istanbul as a slave around 1520, entered the "Royal Ottoman Harem"(part of the house reserved for women) as a servant, became a concubine and finally the legal wife of Sultan Suleiman the magnificent, gaining the first ever title of "Haseki Sultan"(Imperial consort). Hurrem gave birth to 6 of children of Sultan Suleiman, including the next Ottoman Sultan Selim 2. Hurrem Sultan had great influence on Ottoman empire’s political & state affairs as an advisor to the Sultan. She is considered as one of most powerful women in the Ottoman history Hurrem Sultan died in 1558 & her moseleum is part of Sulemaniye mosque complex of Istanbul in a separate building next to the moseleum of Sultan Suleiman the magnificent. Entry to Sulemaniye mosque & moseleum of Hurrem Sultan is free.

Haidar Pasha is a suburb of Istanbul between Scutari (Uskudar) and Kadikoy on the Asiatic side of the Bosphoros. The cemetery is on high ground behind the Haidar Pasha pier head and railway station. Exit the ferry port and turn right.Follow the road for 1.2 KM. Turn right at traffic lights onto road signposted Hospital GATA. After 200 meters turn left and follow the road up the hill for 100 meters. At the entrance to the hospital visitors will see on the right the green CWGC sign for Haidar Pasha. Follow the small road for 100 meters to the main entrance.
