My friend and bought the package deal for this cave, and the santo Antonio cave -we pulled up to the location, and it looked like a deserted restaurant with one other car parked there- it was off season, so we called the number on the door- a man answered and said the guide would be back in 20 minutes, but they needed to lock the building while they were in the cave- I am so glad we waited! our amazing little lady guide was just the best!!she was so thoughtful, informative, and kind- I understand and speak Spanish modestly, and we were able to communicate just fine - her gestures were also helpful - the cave was so well lit, it made the whole thing come to life- the entire cave experience (it was just the 3 of us!) was breathtaking- talk about judging a book by its cover! I was blown away by this cave and stunned by the unimaginable amount of time under perfect conditions that resulted in these formations. Definitely do not skip this cave!

The cave complex is huge with well over 4000m sq., our excellent guide Ida taught us so much about caves, she was such a find with excellent English (also has French). Ida grew up in the area and she has a deep knowledge and love for the caves. The caves themselves exceeded expectations and presented nature in all its glory. This cave system didn’t need the bling of more touristy caves. Definitely put it on the list if visiting Nazare or Fatima.

The tour time can vary according to how many stairs that you want to climb, The beauty of this extinct volcano is breath taking. There are so many photo opportunities. I would have to rate this as a sting MUST SEE.
