In a corner of the most beautiful coastline of Catania, four platforms hovers above the rocks offering an elegant relax corner.
Awesome Castle on black lava rock cliff above the ionian sea. From here was possible see enemy from sea and from land. Today is one place don't forget to see. From the top the view is fantastic. Second my preferences it will be awesome during the storm days when the big waves hit the rock and the little drops of water nebulizer on the air making the atmosphere under the light more mystical

The ascent to the hill of the "old earth", made possible by the impressive panoramic lift, gives to the visitors the thrill to enjoy a view of great value: the mount Etna and Taormina, the valley of the Alcantara River and at the same time to be touched by the charm of the vestiges of centuries of Mediterranean history.A skilful restoration work has unearthed a monumental archaeological site of exceptional importance.
Before you plan to go visit their website which gives all the information you need about opening hours and costs. There are seasonal timetables and some days of the week they are shut. The funicular is an interesting way to access the castle, but can be affected by weather and reliability issues. It seems that there is a method of walking up to the castle by driving through the town up a narrow road, parking and then walking past the church part way up. Once at the castle it is very well laid out and accessible with metal walkways provided to most areas. The views from up top are brilliant. This place is well worth a visit and definitely under-publicised.
