Gravensteen

The only surviving "castle of the count."

Reviewed By Spud479 - London, United Kingdom

We visited on a red hot day and the castle was cool in more ways than one way lol For 12 Euros we collected the audio tour and chose the English tour, a Belgian comedian called Wouter Deprez gave a wonderfully funny version of this horrible history, he got the tone just right and We found ourselves laughing out loud on several occasions ???????? This is great value for money and a must see when in Ghent

Gaasbeek Castle

Gaasbeek Castle is currently closed until 2023 for a large restoration campagn. Gaasbeek Castle is a unique historic house with an extensive collection that has grown organically with it. We are the permanent custodians of this piece of heritage. We present this house and its collection in a bold way as a heritage laboratory and inspiring place to meet. The castle is a ‘work in progress’: we develop systematic innovative initiatives which we share with the local heritage community and beyond. In so doing we put our visitors first: we excite, move and invite them to reflect. We work on an interdisciplinary basis and reach a collective vision of how to enhance art, heritage, nature, education and tourism. All this with attention to quality and maximum social relevance.

Kasteel Beauvoorde

In 1875, the young aristocrat, Arthur Merghelynck, purchased Beauvoorde Castle, which was falling into disrepair. The castle is situated in the charming village of Wulveringem, not far from Veurne (Furnes). In true romantic style, Merghelynck had the castle rebuilt in the way he thought it would have looked in the 17th century. Once completed, he built up a superb collection of furniture and works of art. He also developed the estate grounds to create a stunning new park. Nearly 30 years later, in his will, Merghelynck decided that time should come to a standstill at the castle. His wish was granted. Welcome to the wonderful world of the aristocrat! A very easy-to-use audio-guide in four languages is included in your ticket price. Guided tours for groups are possible, subject to booking in advance. Opening hours All year long: Wednesday: 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm & weekends and public holidays: 10.00 pm - 17. pm

Excellent place to relax, both with or without friends. The main gate stays open, after the Kasteel has shut for the day. Good parking around the Church, opposite to the entrance to the Grounds.
