Resetting your day, from one day to the next, needs three basic actions: take a shower, sleep, and get yourself dressed. We simply replace these actions with the time spent: one hour + seven hours + one hour. Based on this most straightforward concept of staying in a hotel, ninehours offers ideally simple urban stay unlike any other in the world.

Capsule Hotel in Shibata Sauna & Capsule Hotel Open 24 hours (Open all year round) From 2,500 yen per One night. Easy in and out! Horizontal type entrance of 100 capsule rooms !

The facilities are fantastic - a great onsen. I enjoyed that the female and male sides were separated by individual lifts which allowed for freedom to roam in your casual wear between the showers/onsen and the rooms. The capsules (I went with a business cabin) were a really nice size and allowed for a small box to put your valuables in (the key is on your wrist lock). The mattress was quite firm, so if you don't like a hard bed you may be in for an uncomfortable sleep. Check in is 5pm which is rather late, especially with a am check out time. It's comfortable walking distance from the station. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay again!

Our flight was arriving in Centrair at 7.30am, and we couldn't check into our hotel until 3pm. As I am never able to sleep on flights, I thought that Tubesq would be a great option to get a few hours sleep before making our onward journey. So I booked a male capsule for me and a female capsule for my wife (6 hours daytime use) and we went our separate ways after checking in. I put my suitcase into the locker provided (plenty big enough for a large suitcase and additional bag) and went to my capsule - Great! I thought, only one or two capsules were occupied. So I got inside, pulled down the blind, switched off the light and tried in vain to get some sleep. I switched on the fan, which did absolutely nothing apart from make a loud rattling noise, so I switched it off again and tried again to sleep despite the stuffiness and lack of airflow....... And then it started! People's phones making beeping noises, cleaners walking up and down constantly, scrubbing floors, making up the beds in adjacent capsules, emptying bins noisily, phones ringing ... This went on for four hours, so completely I gave up trying to sleep. Utterly pointless! So I thought I would come out of the capsule and take a shower. First I went to the toilet room. Cleaner had emptied her supplies closet all over the floor, blocking the access to the toilet cubicles. Stepped over and entered a cubicle. So tiny inside that my knees touched the door while sitting on the pot, and my elbows touched the wall on both sides..... Cleaner (female) hovering around outside the door re-arranging her supplies, so found myself completely unable to concentrate on a number two despite 'coughing' as a hint that maybe she should give me some privacy.... Went into the shower room to get naked and shower, female cleaner hovering around inside there too. For goodness sake! So basically found this experience to be a total waste of time and money. Please, please, let people sleep if you offer day rooms!

While the onsen spa is very nice - mineral pools and a wonderful steam room - the front desk was not friendly and the hotel area was a little rundown. The inclusive breakfast was not worth the walk to the restaurant; mostly the previous nights leftovers, it seemed. When I mentioned that my cabin (sleeping capsule) was rather hot, the front desk lady said I needed to stay in a business hotel if I wanted air-con. In fact, the Apaiser Capsule Hotel, about a block away (next to the Don Quijote store) had climate control in the area where the cabins are located. I stayed at the Apaiser the next night and the experience was very pleasant: friendly and accommodating staff, very nice furo spa area, and 50% cheaper! Skip the Wellbe and try the Apaiser; you won't be sorry.
