Brimming with both history and natural wonder, Northern Portugal is home to Porto, the city that gave the country its name, as well as the important ancient town of Braga. Also here is Peneda-Gerês, Portugal’s only national park, a gorgeous wilderness area of mountains, gorges, water features and wildlife. Many picturesque villages and manor houses dot the countryside. Two areas are UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the Alto Douro Wine Region, and the Paleolithic rock art in the Côa Valley.

Lovely position, informative and helpful reception staff, good shop/cafe with friendly service and nice pool. Disappointingly there was no evidence of a daily clean and in view of the fact this was the most expensive night of our stay, investment in cleaning is required.

We found this site by chance and stayed 2 nights 9 & 10th Jan 2017. Its no longer the "Municipal site" but privately run. Lovely wooden bungalows for hire round edge of site. They allowed us to stay in our motorhome although the site was technically closed. We had mains electric but the toilets were closed for the season so they allowed us to use the bathroom of one of the bungalows. Excellent recycling bins and motorhome service point. Staff couldn't be more helpful even though they didnt have much English. Well kept site which we found really handy as we have dogs and its often difficult to find places to exercise them. There was nice walk up a lane at the back of the campsite, but we enjoyed the walks through the municipal gardens down in the valley between the campsite and Miranda. It is an easy walk through the gardens to visit Miranda. Would go back there again.

I paid 68 euros for a cabin with ensuite which is more than I have been paying at other facilities while walking the Camino Portuguese. The cabin was reasonable with a very small bedroom, good bathroom and okay kitchen/living room. The table in the living room was unbalanced and could not support anything heavy. There was an old coffee maker but no kettle. There was also no towel provided. For 68 euros I expect to get a towel. The wifi is only functional in the reception area and a room attached to the restaurant. It has a good strong signal when you are in the coverage area. The supermarket had very little on the shelves and no lights on. The assistant suggested that I ask for anything that I wanted at the restaurant which was next door. Strange way of dealing with customers. On check in I was given a map of the complex and the receptionist wrote down the time when various facilities were open. For the restaurant opening was 07.00. However, I went there at 07.30 and it was closed and again at 08.30 and it was still closed. This place is absolutely not worth the price charged - and don't forget to take your own towel.

The house his located in a beautiful countryside farm, with a gorgeous view over the mountain and the city. The spaced rooms have private bathrooms, Wi-Fi, kitchenette, fireplace and everything you need for a quality and relaxed stay.
A small site with limited space between vehicles but well worth a visit. The hosts were extremely friendly and if you are able to get a space by the wall you get great views over Lamego. An added bonus is that you can get a key that gives you access to a short road that will take you to Santuário de Nossa Senhora dos Remedios in 10 minutes. The washing up block was immaculate.

We are a camping park at this time can only come, camping tent, caravan or camper.
When we first arrived at the site I felt it have a very desolate feel. We asked fellow campers how they felt, and they agreed but said the beach and lagoon were very nice. As it is also well situated for visits to Porto and Aveiro we decided to stay a week. The lagoon is very pretty and only a 5 minute walk and the area is great for cycling. The beach is approx 10 minute walk through again a very desolate looking town. But the beach is lovely and sandy with nice sand dunes. John was very friendly and would do anything to help on the site. We didnt like the fact that dogs were allowed to roam free. We even saw poor John one day having to pick up after a dog had messed on the grass area. We never use the ablutions as we use the facilities on board, but the shower blocks looked very clean and well kept.

Our rig: 5m camper van with 3mx3m gazebo. We don't use hook-up. 2 adults travelling with a dog. On a quick tour of Galicia and North Portugal we stayed at four campsites, 3 good, 1 adequate. This was the worst one we stayed at by a country mile. It wasn't awful but the best i can say about it is that it was adequate. We only stayed for one night and were glad to leave. Firstly, the location is brilliant. You have gated access onto a magnificent beach- it really is glorious (photos attached). Very popular with kite surfers, wind surfers and surfers because there is a very strong wind that blows here (certainly while we were here and talking to the watersports enthusiasts it seems to be popular because of the wind). There was a very nice walk along a really long boardwalk that took you past other campsites, much worse than this one, that looked as if they had been modelled on the Stalagluft prison camps of WWII. We chose this site because Orbitur is a chain with a number of sites in Portugal and reasoned they must have an idea of what they are doing. Sadly, this experience has put us off ever booking with Orbitur again. It really felt like an out of season Butlin's in the 70's and we felt like we were being well and truly ripped off for what was available. The pitches are small and each pitch affords very little privacy. This was fine for a lot of the surfers as they knew each other and had quite a nice little community going. We didn't like it at all. Worse though was the toilet block. It was awful. Didn’t look like it had been refurbished since the 1970's with just two showers, and toilet cubicles with the toilet paper OUTSIDE the cubicle. Bizarre. Tbf, it was clean but it just wasn't a pleasure to use. Once again none of the onsite facilities (bar, pool etc) were open. This was the most expensive site on our trip with the charge being just under €30 without electric which, to my mind, was €15 more than it was worth. I couldn't imagine spending more than one night here whilst en route to somewhere nicer and I can't imagine ever using an Orbitur site again. Therefore I can't recommend this site to fellow campers for anything other than access to a very beautiful beach. I'm not leaving a poor review to be malicious. If you look at my other campsite reviews you will see I have praised other sites. This one, however, seemed like it was taking the mickey. Nothing open, small pitches and antiquated bathing facilities. And yet the most expensive. Orbitur should either improve the site massively or reduce their prices accordingly.

Arrived here without booking in August and was surprised to find that it was half empty. The site is shaded in a pine forest about 2km from the beach. It's quiet and has good facilities with clean showers and toilets, a pool and a bar. We stayed here for 3 nights and would recommend it over some of the other, more run down sites in the area.
