Welcome to the Mushroom Farm! Overlooking the Great Rift Valley and breathtaking Lake Malawi, the Mushroom Farm Eco-Lodge offers a magical setting for independent travelers. We are environmentally friendly; enjoy mountain spring water, solar energy, composting toilets, and permaculture gardens. Our restaurant serves farm to table vegetarian meals, our local coffee is roasted onsite, and bread is baked almost daily! So come, relax, enjoy a signature house cocktail while enjoying the view. The Mushroom Farm operate as a social enterprise, we believe in responsible tourism, sustainable community development, and local empowerment. We look forward to meeting you!
Comfortable, basic rooms with stunning views and clean shared toilet facilities. Staff are incredibly helpful, friendly and professional, and the vegetarian meals are excellent. Great public spaces to relax and an equally great selection of games! The farm is located a distance from town (about a 25 min drive) on a poor road. The drive would be even worse in wet weather. On Sunday nights the bar is a gathering spot for locals, who were pretty rowdy all evening. Since it’s very open, the sound carries in the area, so it made for an unpleasant evening. This was the only night we experienced this. The Cob house has a private bathroom and is maybe their best room.

Set amongst large, shady trees along the banks of the surging Shire River, Mvuu Camp offers a charming setting for those wishing to explore the country’s premier wildlife haven. Being Malawi’s largest river, the Shire attracts hordes of mammals and birds. Whether you are staying in one of our 12 attractive en-suite units or in the nearby campsite, you will find the atmosphere lively and dynamic. The impressive thatched dining and lounge area offers magnificent vistas over the river, framed by two large baobab trees. For those wishing to cool off in the midday heat there is an inviting pool. The camp is completed by a traditional boma for dining under the stars. Did you know?Since our inception into Liwonde in 1994, large areas of the Park have been rehabilitated; some 500 local people currently benefit financially from our camps. The diverse landscape includes relatively dry mopane woodlands interspersed with candelabra trees, patches of miombo, palm savannah and numerous baobabs on extensive floodplains and dense riverine vegetation.Your activities will include boating, game drives (day and night) and cultural visits to villages.Mvuu means ‘hippo’ in Tonga, referring to the large numbers that occur here. The Park is also home to elephant, rare black rhino, sable, waterbuck, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest and, rarely, lion. The prolific bird life seen include African Skimmer, Palmnut Vulture and White-backed Night-Heron.
Quality relaxation, in wonderful rooms on the river bank. For the family there is a well appointed swimming pool. Account can be settled with card, but take cash for the game guide tip and staff tips (all settled on check out) Amazing game views from the river and from vehicles. We saw a fish eagle catch startle a heard of elly, whi then stampede away. Hippos yawn endlessly in the water. Bird life is rich and varied and close enough to capture on film. We saw a cheetah fresh kill being eaten by 1 month only cubs.

Italian kitchen, international kitchen, bar, camping area, caravan area, tented chalet, rooms, apartment, bar. Every day home made pasta, pizza, bread and others many things. Live music,. Possibility to organize safari in Malawi.
Beautiful accomodation! Our room looked really nice and clean, the garden is beautiful and the people are really kind! The Italian food was good too. We had a very nice stay! The accomodation is more expensive than comparable locations in Malawi but it is still allright. We had to wait quite long for both our dinner and breakfast, so it might be worth it to order in advance.

Kuthengo Camp is nestled among Fever trees and Baobabs on a large open plain stretching towards the Shire River in Liwonde National Park. With resident fish eagles nesting in these Baobabs, you will be woken to ‘Africa’s voice’ calling as you rise in this wild and natural paradise. Our four spacious and modern safari tents are all en-suite, each with a bathtub and an outdoor shower.
The adventure started as we boarded our boat to take us to camp, what a way to arrive. We were welcomed by smiling faces and a helping hand and later an elephant who made a deposit outside our tented room, (shame we couldn't take it home for the roses). Our room had everything we could need, comfy cosy beds and lots of hot water, not to mention a stunning view over the river. We fell asleep at night to the sound of hippos grunting and splashing about in the river. Our game drives were great, every effort was made to see as much as possible in the time, we always felt safe and we learnt lots about the wildlife and bird life. Every meal was a treat, delicious home cooked meals served with a smile. The whole camp atmosphere made it a pleasure to be there.

11 Chalets, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, camp site with bbq facilities, campsite bathroom and scullery facilities
The new owners at Kingfisher are making an effort to update the place. This is difficult during Covid times, but they are making improvements. The beach, pool and beach bar are a nice place to hang out and they have a few watersports activities on offer. The hills nearby would also be good for hiking and cycling. The rooms were clean and decent but load shedding meant there are sometimes water issues.

Situated within Majete around a serene floodlit waterhole that attracts a variety of wildlife, Sunbird Thawale Lodge is a peaceful haven from which to experience Majete. Completely unfenced, the camp is regularly visited by wildlife. Sunbird Thawale Lodge offers six double and twin tented chalets all en-suite and each with its own private veranda overlooking the waterhole. The more luxurious chalet has a unique open air bathroom built among the rocks with a shower and a sunken bath and views of the floodlit waterhole. The chalets are spaced out to offer visitors privacy and an individual bush experience. A communal lapa (traditional lounge area) with a fully staffed kitchen is available in the centre of the camp. Fresh meals are served in the beautiful thatched bamboo restaurant and bar with a birding veranda. Sunbird Thawale is fully electrified.
Beautiful ? place to stay. Now managed by African Parks the place looks nice & clean. New chef to delight your appetite. Water Hole Sundowner is a winner if you are lucky. The lodge looks refurbished & clean

Beach Camp & Eco-Adventures
We stayed here for 3 nights and really liked the place. The room was basic but clean. The setting is nice and we hanged our hammocks in the trees and watched many of monkeys playing around all day long. The staff is super friendly and it was always a pleasure to talk about everything with the owner Willie. He has many interesting stories to tell. The food is also good and decently priced. Warmly recommend this place.
