Bosques del Tibet, Cerro Verde. Hostel cabins in mountain area, cool weather and haze. We have 9 cabins and 1 family house, playground and viewpoints, Cafetin with various dishes of food, drinks and snacks. Hikes to the volcano of Santa Ana. Ideal to relax and escape from the daily routine

Fresh air, clean rivers, orchids, singing birds, forests, coffee farms, butterflies, waterfalls, caves, history, peace and quiet.... the largest natural area in El Salvador, and PERKIN LENCA, Hotel de Montaña right in the middle of it.Located in the province of Morazán, less than a mile from the historical town of Perquín, on the Nahuaterique mountain range, at 4,100 feet above sea level, with a comfortable climate averaging out at 66°F, we guarantee that peace and quiet that you are searching for. The natural spring is a favorite of many visitors... a good book, the gentle gurgling of the spring and surprise visits by a pair of Torogóz which live nearby. If you are a bird-lover, this is the place for you. New species for the area have been reported from the hammock of the cabins. The first sighting of the Wagler´s Oropendola was made when it nested in our vegetable garden.PERKIN LENCA is an eco-friendly operation in waste handling, including biological treatment of waste waters, recycling, cleaning materials and organic management of the coffee farm and vegetable garden. The staff of PERKIN LENCA are from the surrounding communities. Their authentic friendliness combined with ongoing training guarentee a special treatment for our guests.
We just did a one-night stay at Lenca and could not be happier. We were in rooms 18 & 19, up at the top of the property. This is a basic rural mountain lodge. Super relaxing and a great place to disconnect. The rooms are basic, but are super clean. The ceiling fan provided sufficient air movement to sleep comfortably, especially as it cooled off in the late evening. The bathrooms are well-done with good showers (good pressure and hot water) and enough shelf space to put your things. They use liquid soap dispensers in the shower and at the sink. No TV or WiFi in the rooms (though plenty of Claro 3G signal). Planning for this, we sat out on the patio outside the room and played UNO and Monopoly Deal with the kids after supper. It was super pleasant - it was not buggy, but bug spray made us more confident. (Seriously, bring playing cards, or a traveler's style board game - or lay in the hammocks and read.) The restaurant was quite good. For supper, around the table we had steaks, the Veracruz chicken, and the beef tacos (meat/veggie mix was more like fajitas, but it was good). Breakfast was also good, but the "included breakfast" is limited to a plate with one egg, two pieces of bread (today it was two rolls), and coffee/tea. The other plates are pretty substantial and tasty. The orange juice is tasted fresh-squeezed. Check-in and check-out were easy. Everyone was really friendly and service-oriented. Pro-Tip: The photos showing the stairs to get to the main lodge where you'll find the restaurant and reception are realistic. You gotta hump like three flights of stairs. However, if you're staying in the upper rooms like we were, there's a way to drive your car up to the parking lot by the rooms. No avoiding going up and down the hill from your room to the restaurant though.

The person who took my reservation was not at the desk, there was a lot of noise during the night. No place to hang clothes, no phone, no service, no internet, and I had to pay in cash. I do not recommend it at all. I tried to get breakfast but there was no one at the front desk.

What a beautiful place. The owners shared with us their love of their environment and their support of eco-tourism. They also work with area land owners to encourage replanting of trees in farmland that was usually left barren after slash and burn farming. The meal was a typical Salvadoran chicken dish with rice, simply amazing. And the coffee was so rich, they grow their own beans and roast them on site, we were able to buy some and bring back to the States with us. The zip lines are not for the faint of heart but they were great, you were able to be a part of the canopy (tree tops). The views of Lago de Guija left me speechless, so beautiful. A must stop if you're in the Metapan area.

I visited Finca Santa Marta twice and both times were amazing. The views, the food, the wonderful owners make you feel welcome and take care of everything themselves. The premises are clean, very relaxing peaceful environment. Cannot recommend it enough! Definitely would visit again.
