Lovely camp site near lively town

Reviewed By Deramore

My wife and I, and our two dogs, stayed here for two nights in a "Chalet confort". Two bedrooms + sofa bed + shower/separate toilet + kitchen/dining. Campsite is peaceful and secluded, and staff at reception very friendly and helpful. As usual at sites this early in the season, none of the facilities were open (snack bar, pool etc). I always wonder why this is never made clear at booking. But no matter, it was exactly what we wanted. The cabin was very clean and tidy, with an excellent shower and a nice little veranda facing the setting sun. The outside needs a lick of paint, and the grass everywhere needs cut. But I can forgive this entirely at the tail end of a pandemic and in the midst of an economic crisis. Saulieu is only 10 mins walk away and was pleasantly busy on a sunny Saturday morning. We visited the open air market, had a stroll and drank coffee at Café Parisien, where we booked dinner for the evening including live music (guitarist followed by late jazz). For £55 per night this is excellent value.

A Delightful Alternative to Hotel Stays

Reviewed By Cyclingsanta

We stayed in one of the two dozen small, new, wooden cabins in a peaceful setting away from the highway with farm fields and pastures in the background although we were only a few km from the city of Decize. Our cabin had lots of windows and air circulation, great shower, comfortable bed, and all the necessities for housekeeping. The staff were gracious and helpful. It was a very pleasant change from our usual hotel stays. Wished we had wifi.

Night in a barrel

We slept there for one night with our kids in a barrel and it was really cool, the kids enjoyed a lot. There was no restaurant there though because not a lot of people are there, so no dinner or breakfast possible on site, but the city is close and you can easily get something there.

Chambres d'hotes La Gargaille

A hidden gem!

Reviewed By Julie T

We chose this accommodation the night before we arrived, whilst on our road trip around Europe. What a treat! The log cabins which were built by the owner in the woods in their garden were absolutely beautiful. Fully plumbed, heating, every amenity. Breakfast the next morning was delicious homemade preserves with a selection of breads, yoghurt, fruit. An excellent selection. The owners were lovely and although they spoke little English and us little French, we got by just fine. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.

Great campsite for cyclists

Reviewed By 13Annie123

Camped here for 2 nights during our cycle from UK to Italy. Excellent clean, warm facilities, with a Wi-Fi room that also has microwave, kettle, crockery etc. for campers to use. Great for us as in heavy rain. Pitches also have picnic tables and a washing line! The managers were warm, friendly and helpful.
