Home to both the midnight sun (with constant daylight from April to July) and the northern lights, North Norway is a rugged land of steep mountains, deep fjords and scenic coastline, making it a great place for outdoor adventures like dog sledding, snowmobiling and wildlife safaris. It's also the ancient home of the Sami people, 3,000 of whom live (along with 100,000 reindeer) at Kautokeino, Norway's largest municipality at over 3,700 square miles.

We had Karl as our guide, who I understand from other posts is no longer working at Green Fox Guiding. It's a small tour group - we had a full minibus of 8 people, and drove about 30-45 mins out of town (first to get firewood at the petrol station then to his friend's place), before stopping at a car park to view the faint lights. The night was partially cloudy so could only see some aurora activity. Note there are plenty of tour operators so we booked the day prior, all offering similar things. My only complaint is that when it's advertised having a tripod supplied, I was informed that you had to request for it specifically, despite no comments section when booking online. Only saving grace is using a camping stool as a make-shift tripod. Please make the website clearer.

This tour was so lovely! Govind was very friendly, knowledgable and great at looking after people in the cold outdoors. The lights came out to play, and it had been very cloudy weather so we were very lucky! He took some great professional pictures of the lights with us and sends them to us the next day. We had plenty of hot chocolate, biscuits and sausages which we cooked ourselves on an open fire. We did have to travel to Finland to get to the lights, but for me that added to the experience of being in a rural area and also shows that Govind really wanted to find the best spot for us. Recommend highly to book with Green Fox.

The whole experience was great! Markus did his best to make the trip very comfortable. Even though there was not that much aurora activity and it was very cloudy and even snowing, after a couple hours of driving by the Finish border Markus found an opening with very clear skies and we could see some aurora activities and have great shots of them. All in all a great experience.

Markus was an excellent guide on our private Northern Lights tour. We left Tromsø in the pouring rain and somehow he managed to find the lights. We had a wonderful show in two different locations and a bonfire with hot food, hot drinks and marshmallows. He took some fantastic photos which were shared with us the next morning. Overall, we had a really special night; without Markus I doubt we would have seen anything. I would highly recommend him as a guide - he is both friendly and extremely well informed.

We saw the lights beginning of Feb 2020, and due to very bad weather conditions around Tromso, we ended up crossing the Finnish border. Bart was a great guide and did his best to make the tour unforgettable. The spot he picked was fantastic (frozen lake!) and we were lucky enough to see a mesmerising Aurora display that night. We also had some delicious soup and hot chocolate by the camp fire to warm up. Couldn't be happier!
