Beautiful garden divided into several focuses. Plants are labeled and information is available on the various plants and gardening techniques. We take our dogs and have a pleasant little walk.

Oregon's oldest estate winery and the birthplace of Oregon Pinot Noir. In 2014 HillCrest was recognized by the state of Oregon and in Vienna, Austria for its global contributions to the world of fine wine. In 2003 the DeMara family, with over 36 years of winemaking and grape growing around the world, took over from the Father of Oregon wine and HillCrest founder Richard Sommer. Today they specialize in classic European varieties from France, Spain and Germany crafted using the very best of old world techniques. These include the use of patented concrete fermentors for reds, extended ageing of 2-7 years and dry farming. The DeMaras invite you to taste in their tasting room which is opened every day of the year minus the big 4 holidays. There is usually a selection of 8-9 wines that are available for tasting with many more wines for sale from the wineries library. These wines are only sold here at the winery.
Went on an Umpqua Valley wine tour with a group of wonderful ladies this weekend. Hillcrest was our first stop and so glad it was on the list. The wine tasting experience was relaxed and so enjoyable. Jennifer was exceptionally friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the wines and history of the winery. I had no idea this was the very first winery in Oregon and birthplace of the pinot grape! The delicious wines and enjoyable conversation with Jennifer lead me to purchase a couple of bottles for home, and also had Jennifer ship a couple of bottles to family! Would definitely recommend Hillcrest as the first stop on your list for those visiting vineyards in the Umpqua Valley! Thank you Jennifer!

What a fun place full of farm items, antiques and rustic outdoor/indoor decorating items! So many outbuildings full of stuff to see and buy. Many items are left outside year-round though and are meant to be in rough shape...others are inside and well taken care of. This is a fun place to see for guys and ladies! Something for everyone here!

Peggy and Charlie are the nicest host and hostess you would want. Peggy served us cheese and crackers and chocolates with our red wine. We were able to go outside and Peggy went back and forth with our tastings. We chose to buy a bottle of Pino Gris to enjoy at the winery and take in the view. This wine is a great wine and value. We hope to go back soon!

This hike was amazing, very accessible hike. You start off from the parking lot and have to cross the highway to access the actual hike. The hike its self was spectacular! If you are adventures and like to get to the bottom of the hike, you have that ability to get down the fall!

This has been a popular spot in Roseburg for many years. It’s located next to the YMCA off Harvard Avenue. There’s a pavilion for events, halfshell dome over a stage for music in the park, great updated playground with slides, forts, swings, etc and it’s right on the river if you want to take a stroll with a river view. They have public restrooms and a short drive from the playground is a nice disk-golf course. My daughter and I sat and played in the shaded grass and had a picnic lunch while my wild toddler ran out some energy with other kids on the playground.

We were driving along Route 138, aware of a number of waterfalls on this route (Watson Falls, Toketee, etc). Most of these waterfalls require hiking, some of them a lot of hiking. We came across the sign for this waterfall east of Watson Falls, and decided to turn off the road. We were NOT disappointed! Not far off 138 at all, maybe 0.2 miles. Very short hike to the waterfall. It is well worth it! Very few people in the vicinity. Nice views of the creek and you can cross it over a small bridge. SO accessible and so enjoyable.

Situated 150 feet over the North Umpqua River and close to Crater Lake National Park.
$5/car parking fee with 10 minutes of easy hiking brings you to wonderful cascading small hot spring pools with lots of bathers (some nude). Anyone with mobility issues or children should be aware lots of climbing is required to get into and out of the slippery hillside pools. If seeing or being next to a stranger who is nude isn’t your thing this place isn’t likely for you. Everyone we met were normal, respectful, and friendly. There was no litter and the restroom (pit toilet) at the parking area was very clean.
