The service is excellent! It’s unbeatable - they provide free transport from batam ferry centre to the spa and you can do your shopping after the spa, just let them know the time you wish to head back to the ferry terminal after you’re done, they’ll fetch you back to the batam ferry centre! They also have free food, snacks and drinks provided at the spa. The staff and bosses are super friendly. The masseuses are skillful too. This is the best spa I’ve ever come across ever!

Currently you can get to and from Jemaja Island by ferry from Bintan Island (~7 hours) or by airplane from Batam Island (~1 hour) which are both very close and easy accessed by ferry from Singapore (~2h). Once arrived on the island Jemaja, you could theoretically explore the big and beautiful island on your own. The local native people from Jemaja are very friendly and helpfull but there are only a few who speak english. If you speak some basic indonesian you could try to discover the island on your own but ressources like wifi and transportation are limited and not all hotels and homestays are on the internet. Currently the maps dot me app works better for Jemaja than google maps. But from our experience, you will have your time better spent and will be more relaxed on your trip, if you ask Gusdi Munandar via whatsapp (+62-822-8335-1471) in advance to organize a hotel or homestay according to your needs and budget. He is a very friendly local guide who also works at the tourist information center at the local airport. Therefore he does not try to make money out of consulting and guiding tourists. He is also concerned about the well being of tourists and gives advices on local dangers like difficult road sections and translates for local people if tourists have specific food intolerance. We had an awesome time with lots of different save trips to snorkel on beautiful beaches and corals with different boats and captains also to smaller nearby islands, and our own rental scooter for this island, all thanks to Gusdi. Because Gusdi was born on Jemaja, he knows the island and is connected with most or all of the natives that can provide services and boattrips for tourists. His efforts of organizing trips from different villages to several of the nearby islands help to integrate the growing numbers of tourists into the economy of the whole island in a fair way.

We arrived at perfect timing where there's no other visitor except us. The staffs went extra miles to guide us how to pose and even help take pictures for us to almost all the station until a tour group arrived.

The geology of Natuna Island is simply amazing, and the best place to see it up close is the Alif Stone Park. We visited the park during the day and saw all the huge granite boulders, and later went back for a special occasion dinner in the spectacular natural venue, with a small acoustic band singing amongst the rocks. We also got to see the guesthouse rooms which looked wonderful!

Bintan island offers more than pleasant resorts and Guan Yin temple is a one magnificent sight that hosts unique stone sculptures and Buddhist artifacts. If you are keen to explore the island more than just a comfortable stay, you should visit this scenic temple.

We chose to visit the old Vietnamese refugee camp at Pulau Galang with our children to remind them what so many people who have done so much to build our homeland, Australia, went through on their journey to their new home. We live in difficult times, and this camp is a warning of what can happen when we close our doors, and a tribute also to what Indonesia has done to support the needy. The camp consists of barracks, administrative buildings, a Catholic Church, temples and a cemetary (probably the most haunting part of the visit, seeing those who never reached their final destination) and a small but poignant museum. The buildings are in poor condition, but sometimes doing too much to preserve a site can rob it of its power. I think this would be the case here. If you have children, and you would like them to develop a social conscience, this is a must visit. It is quite a long drive, but definitely worth it. We spent a couple of hours here, and could easily have spent longer.
