We took the metro to Sakuranomiya station and on exiting the station, we were already feasting our eyes on the beautiful cherry blossoms in full bloom. We took a walk on both sides of the river and viewed lots of cherry blossom trees. Unlike other places, this place was not so crowded, maybe because we went early in the morning. Among all the places we visited to view cherry blossoms in Osaka and Tokyo, this is probably the best, and it is totally free and so near the station.

A beautiful castle and magnificent testimony of history about the great city of Osaka. The castle is easily accessible with public transportation and covers a large area which includes a park around the castle with several amenities. The observatory on the top floor provides a beautiful view of the city and each floor shows you a moment of history and the role of the castle going back 300 years ago in Osaka. The castle takes you back in time and you will be able to see several exhibitions and when you stop on the second floor take a moment to wear a helmet and vest for a pictures as a samurai warrior. The museum was close to where I lived and also just right above tenjinbashisuji 6-chome station. You get a discount if you present your Surutto Kansai Pass and admission is free is you have the Amazing Osaka Pass. What I liked most about my visit there was the simulated weather changes and the time of day in the museum. The voice overs are in Japanese but there are written English translations for a few of them. Worth to spend 30-60 minutes there if you have nothing else to do.
