This is a Mausoleum worth to visit. Beautiful Trees are on both sides. The steps , 392, representing the 392 million people at that time, are well set. From above, you only see the platforms! The coffin is very big for the 159cm Sun Yatsen... It is a miracle, that this Mausoleum survived the Revolutions.

Hiking as a tourist: an activity to breathe new air, exercise at your own pace, and be merry with birdsongs around. But it’s also a much-sought-after getaway for locals. That’s certainly the case in Nanjing’s Purple Mountain. On my way up, I witnessed employees from Dyson walking as a team. On the way back, there are many dog owners enjoying the outdoor walk with their pets. The climb was not too demanding, but definitely more so than the option of cable car. One of my vivid memories was the open mouth of my travel guide when I elected to go on foot. And, why not? The view is worth the mileage.

What a great use of a large urban lake! This is one of the nicest urban parks I have ever visited. I visited this park twice, since park entrance is free and since it was close to my hotel (once for an evening stroll and once for a morning walk). To walk around the entire lake would take a very long time, but since it is free it doesn't feel as if you have to visit the entire park at once, but can do so in segments. Also the islands in the lake mean that you can do a partial circuit of the lake quite easily, and shorten the distance. The park is very well-maintained. While there were certainly some tourists in the park, many of the people were clearly locals, including representatives of the ubiquitous Chinese tradition of retired people playing games in their nearest park. The park is large enough that is easy to escape to relatively uncrowded areas if you wish.

We enjoyed walking through the area on the sacred pathway (lined with stone animals and soldiers) on the way to the tomb. The cost to enter is 70 RMB and you can pay 100 RMB to get a discount ticket to see other attractions in the purple mountain area as of March 2021. The gardens are well maintained and there are plenty of signs to point you in the right direction. The ramps to go to the top of the tomb building are a little slippery and uneven so make sure you have good shoes. There are also lots of cats and pollen in this area when we went in March 2021 so you might want to bring your allergy medication just in case. There were also plenty of mosquitoes but they did not bite at all. Lots of places to grab snacks and drinks in the park area - the highlight for us was a Johnsonville sausage trailer! Closest Metro to the main gate was Muxuyuan. To Didi here you can enter "Ming Xiaoling Masoleum Scenic Area - Ticket Office".

This was my second visit. This unique site covers many dynasties and captures many recent historical events of the 20th century - post-Ching dynasty. It has many change of hands among Manchurian, different Chinese political parties and Japanese during their occupation.

The visit costs 10yuan. You will see some different worship stations, nice walk and city views and an impressive Pagoda. Plan a visit to the wall and definitely stop by the temple. Worth it!

Worth the time & efforts to visit the Nanjing Museum. It is free entry for visitors. We went to the first building’s service desk to register / collect some leaflets. There are at least 3 main buildings. They are built separately. Each houses different artifacts & exhibits. Very interesting ones would be the building that housed the dinosaurs, the skeletons of the dead which you can see their social status just by looking at their burial. Their monetary systems, their age of pottery, the ancient warriors & commoners’ attires & sculptures & etc. Another building houses paintings & statues. Wooden carvings were intricate & were detailing life. Security guards were flexible, as long as you do not speak loudly. Cameras are allowed. We had a good 2-hour+ quick walk. At certain levels we couldn’t enter as they were meant only for invited guests. There are many washrooms, pretty clean. It’s a must-go!

What a magnificent feat by mankind, everything from the hall on top to the underground rooms engulfed in golden figurines and just the grandiose display is extraordinary.
