Given its close proximity to the Arctic Circle, Kiruna is a winter wonderland for skiing, snowboarding, dogsledding, ice fishing and snowmobile jumping. Its location also means nonstop sunlight in June and July and easy access to Kebnekaise, the highest mountain in Sweden. Kiruna Church is a big and beautiful wooden church in the heart of the city. Build between 1909-1912 it's one of the biggest wooden buildings in Sweden. 2001 it was voted the most liked building in Sweden. The altarpiece is work of Prince Eugen Napoleon Nicolaus of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke. Definitely worth a visit.
