John Muir Alpacas is an exciting new trekking and tourism business close to John Muir Country Park and the John Muir Way in Dunbar.
Highly recommend a John Muir Alpaca Trek, such a wonderful experience, in a beautiful location. We had the most amazing morning with, Bertie, Ouzo, Toby and Harry and the wonderful owner Jen, who greeted us with a warm welcome, and made everyone feel right at home. We went on a lovely walk through the woods, which leads you out onto the most stunning beach on the estuary of John Muir. The Alpacas are just amazing, gentle, funny, inquisitive and they love a wee selfie! My Dad got paired with Ouzo, it was the perfect pairing! He’s just like my Dad, laid back and a proper gent! Jen paired everyone perfectly, as no one was in a hurry to hand them back after the trek! Thank you John Muir Alpacas, we look forward to coming back to visit soon.

The harbour is quite small, nevertheless, the scenery is absolutely stunning! The fish and chips were very tasty too. Definitely worth a visit.

I had one of my best pals over visiting from the US, we’re both real ale fans and have visited several breweries in California where he now lives, and we’ve long talked about visiting the home of one of our favourite Scottish tipples. This was a properly special afternoon out, a really interesting tour of a truly historic site in sunny seaside Dunbar, culminating in a tasting of several of their stunning ales in the beautifully appointed ‘Monk’s Retreat’ onsite bar. Tommy the tour guide was just great, full of facts and passion for the place and the subject, Vicky in Reception looked after the booking, sold us a selection of their fabulous fare (try the Oatmeal Stout) from their onsite off-license and welcomed us fabulously well, and the Head of Brewing who managed to find us a case of the excellent ‘Wee Heavy’ but whose name I am embarrassed to have forgotten (apologies), was a complete star. Great value at £8 for a pleasant couple of hours (£5 for concessions), only half an hour east of Edinburgh, I would thoroughly recommend a visit, thanks to all the staff down there, I’ll definitely be back.

Interesting and friendly little museum full of fairly amazing facts about this fascinating man that did so much for the environment and the preservation of the natural world. The museum is free, small but packed with easily digestible information that make it well worth the visit. It's well laid out so never boring, interactive and with a lot of visual stuff that makes it well worth the visit. Take your time and don't miss it

We had a visit to Torness today we were fortunate as we were only 3 in our group, our guide Maureen was great lots of information and answered all our questions. It is a fantastic piece of engineering all British built, this tour I would highly recommend for everyone as long as you can get up stairs. The diagrams are very informative and easy to understand, don't miss this visit.

Yes, it's a ruin. No, you can't access it anymore. However, it's in a lovely wee town, beside an interesting harbour and you could spend hours just watching the kittiwakes who have claimed the castle as their own. Buy a book on the history of the town (I got one for £3.50 from the local history society) sit in the sunshine with the castle and harbour entrance as your view and marvel at the fact that there's anything left of this castle at all after everything it's been through!!
