Da Nang is laid-back and friendly, maybe because everyone you meet has just finished an amazing meal. Culinary tours are a hugely popular way to experience literal local flavor. After you’ve stuffed yourself with bold noodle soups and savory street foods, walk it off by exploring the limestone caves and Buddhist grottos of the Marble Mountains.

We stayed at a beachfront hotel and loved the view from the bar across to the beautiful beach and the mountainous backdrop. My husband had a go at surfing and experienced gentle waves ideal for learning. It was suitable once past the close to shore break to kayak or paddle board.

A small Buddhist temple with the scriptures well maintained. Worth a visit. The temple is situated in the city centre of Da Nang and it is easily accessible.

A short taxi ride away from the main beach area hotels in Da Nang, is this large and beautiful statue, temple and pagoda overlooking the ocean. It was one of the highlights of my recent visit to this area. Highly recommended. Also very nice and quieter at night.

On our way from Huê to Hoi An, we made a quick stop at the beautiful "Son Tra Mountain", with breathtaking views of Dà Nãng Bay, South China Sea, Marble Mountains and the Linh Ung - Bai But Pagoda. During the Vietnam War, a U.S. Air Force and Marine base was located at the very peak of "Son Tra Mountain" and it was known as the "Monkey Mountain Facility". The name - "Monkey Mountain" - derives from the many many monkeys living then in "Son Tra Mountain". Today, not so many monkeys are seen in its green trails, as they moved deep into the forest. But the attractive scenary is still there! At only 10 km from Dà Nãng's city center and at 700 m above sea level, "Son Tra Mountain" should not be missed by all those traveling between Huê, Dà Nãng and Hoi An. Enjoy!

The Buddha’s and associated attendants both inside and outside the pagoda are worth the trip. It has a nice garden setting and pretty views of Da Nang and beaches. You may even see what are apparently called red-faced monkeys.
