January 10, 2022 Toi Mattera

Chonburi (Thai: ชลบุรี, RTGS: Chon Buri,  [tɕ͡ʰōn bū.rīː] ( listen)) is an eastern province (changwat) of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi, and Rayong. To the west is the Gulf of Thailand. Chonburi is home to Thailand's largest tourist oriented city, Pattaya (also spelled Phatthaya), it is the only province outside the Bangkok Metropolitan Area to connect by an eight-lane motorway to Bangkok, 80 km distant. It is home to Thailand's largest and primary seaport, it has a thriving migrant and expatriate population. Due to these factors, the province's population is growing rapidly, with currently some 1.7 million residents (albeit with a large floating or unregistered population). The registered population as of 31 December 2012 was 1.36 million.

Wat Yansangwararam

Reviewed By hooman1020 - Tehran, Iran

Wat Yansangwararam (Locally known as Wat Yan) is a one of the most impressive temples in Pattaya. The temple is located approximately 20 km south of the Pattaya. The temple was built in 1976. Wat Yansangwararam is surrounded by clean gardens, massive lakes & several different architectural styles of buildings, that make the complex a nice & peaceful place. The contemporary design is the most remarkable characteristic of Wat Yan. Many unique architectural influences from India, China, Japan & Lanna can be seen here. Inside the main complex you can find a replica footprint of the Buddha & a large stupa that contains a many relics from the Buddha. The complex is usually quiet, so It's an interesting place for practicing meditation. Public transport is not available for going to Wat Yan, so you have to go there by a group tour or with a private taxi or a rental car. It's a good idea to rent a car and go to the Wat Yan by rental car, So you can discover many attractions of this part of the city such as Nong Noch tropical garden, Silverlake vineyard, Swiss sheep farm, Ramayana Water Park and Buddha mountain. It's located only about 10 minutes away from Buddha Mountain. Standing in a certain spot in the Wat Yan, you can see the Buddha Mountain in the distance. It's really worth a visit for discovering the quieter side of Pattaya. The complex operates (8-17).

Sai Kaew Beach

Reviewed By Maplelagjames - Callaway, United States

We found ourselves locked down for six months in Thailand staying in Jomtien and maybe not in love with the beach and water in Jomtien, friends suggested we give the Navy Beach or Sai Kaew a try. With a rented car, it was no problem at all and while a few hoops to go thru, it was fun and interesting and to see such nice well kept grounds. And the beach itself and the water were more than wonderful. It was so good we made the trip perhaps 30 plus times. The small restaurants had great food choices and more than fair prices. The whole fish at 400 baht was so good, I looked forward to that every time we went. I do not understand some of the negative whining comments some of made of this beach. They must feel very entitled. I can see it might be a chore if taking public transport, but it would not be the end of the world. I felt it was all of great value and that is why we kept repeating the experience so many times. When Covid is brought to heel, and tourism returns in a normal manner I cannot wait to return to Sai Kaew. At all times, we were treated with great respect by all the various Thai personnel involved in the various stations you must go thru from fee paying to chair rental. The beach and water were so nice, it gave great comfort to be able to enjoy this. Thanks so much to all involved. Jim at Maplelag in a very cold day here at minus 18 F below zero.
