This is a really cool park. It's a wonderful re-purposing of old U.S. Hwy 17. The old 2-lane highway has been turned into a hiking/biking trail. It stretches for over 16 miles, I only hiked the first three miles up and back from the northern trail head. I really enjoyed the peaceful nature walk, which at places had breathtaking, postcard-esque views of the canal. It wasn't too crowded either, even on the 85 degree Memorial Day I visited. It also wasn't swarming with flies and mosquitos, as I feared going in. There is plenty of free parking at the northern trail head, as well as a clean public restroom. There are also picnic tables and benches there, and at several places along the trail. The paved trail makes this a suitable and easy walk for any fitness level or age. It was a great experience, and I will be back again!

A respite from the noisy streets on the Elizabeth River. Some nice woods as well. It's amazing how quiet and peaceful it is here. We especially loved watching the river rise as the breeze caused ripples through the water. It was a great sight.

My husband, dog, and I walked the Chesapeake Arboretum trails for the first time today. We wanted fresh air and, due to COVID-19, not many people. We got it and loved it. The camellias were blooming, the trees had changed to their fall colors, and when we did cross paths with some other walkers, we had plenty of room to stay a safe distance. Lake Hughes was a pleasant surprise. With the Fall colors and ducks on the lake, our pictures were gorgeous. We're in our late 60s. We did have to watch the tree roots, but the day on the trails was so enjoyable. Kudos to the city of Chesapeake for well marked and nicely maintained trails. We'll definitely return.

A groups of four friends booked for dinner and a movie, Cinema Cafe share the location with the local Kerikeri Cathay Cinema. The menu and wine list are well matched, with good New Zealand wines. I think it best to list what we ordered to give a sample of the menu. All were well presented, perfectly cooked, and delicous. There is a Movie and Meal deal, which is excellent value. We ordered and shared the Entrees Buffalo Chicken Tenders (GF)$14 Camembert & Manuka moment (GF,V)$17. CC's calamari (GF)$15 Dippy dunkers $12 Chefs choise of daily breads. Garlic and Hummis (V) (GF toast available) Then for main we ordered Pork Trio (GF)$28 Pork Belly Lamb Shoulder (GF)$28 Duck leg confit (GF)$27 Vegetarian Curry of the day (GF, V)$21

This was a great place to hike with my dog! I prefer to take just one long trail but this park you must combine several small trails. It wasn’t too crowded but then again the trails were pretty muddy. My pup needed a bath when we got home. Just prepare and don’t bring your best sneakers or stick to the paved paths.
