About 15 miles southeast of Perugia lies the lovely walled town of Bevagna, which, happily for travel-weary hill-climbing legs, is basically flat relative to other area towns. Can’t-miss sights include the 12th-century Palazzo dei Consoli (Palace of the Consuls) and the churches of St. Sylvester and St. Michael Arcangel, both also dating from the 12th century. The Madonna of the Snow was built atop a Roman temple ruin. The Mercato delle Gaite, a major medieval festival, happens every June.

A visit to Tenuta Castelbuono is a journey into the world of art and wine. The Carapace, the winery designed by Arnaldo Pomodoro, is the first sculpture in the world in which one lives and works simultaneously. This unique work of art is a shrine to hold the precious great wines of Sagrantino and Rosso di Montefalco, the true souls of Umbria.Una visita alla Tenuta Castelbuono e un viaggio nel mondo dell'arte e del vino.Il suo Carapace, la cantina progettata da Arnaldo Pomodoro, e la prima scultura al mondo nella quale si vive e si lavora.
