Pont Couvert has great views across Barrage Vauban - and equally the best views of Pont Couvert are from Barrage Vauban. It gets pretty busy during the day, but worth getting up early before anyone else is there, to see the sunrise (or stay late to watch the sunset).

The Three Countries Bridge (Dreilanderbrucke, La passerelle des Trois Pays) is an arch bridge which crosses the Rhine between the commune of Huningue (France) and Weil am Rhein (Germany). It is the world's longest single-span bridge dedicated exclusively to carrying pedestrians and cyclists. Its name comes from the bridge's location between France, Germany and Switzerland (about 200 meters).
You take the tram into a German part of Basel and then alight near the start of the bridge. The walk across the Rhine takes about 5 minutes after which you arrive in the utterly soulless and uninspiring commune of Huningue, a suburb of Basel in France. We struggled to find a coffee shop there although when we did find one it was excellent, serving a nice little selection of good coffee and pastries. Apparently the town is building a nice little attraction at the end of the bridge but it seems like it will be some years away.

As well as being a very attractive little bridge, it is a simple fact that wherever you stand on or near Pont Fortifie, there is a fabulous photograph to be taken. Kaysersberg is a beautiful village, and the area by the bridge is definitely one of the most beautiful spots for photography opportunities.

The pedestrian or foot bridge over the Rhine River connects the towns of Kehl, Germany and Strasbourg, France. The architecturally beautiful bridge is a lasting symbol of friendship between the two towns that were at war for centuries. Visitors can walk back and forth between the two towns without the border hassles. The view is also worth the walk across the bridge. At the middle of the bridge is a spot where locals from both towns have their picnic annually.
