Meander along modern architectural walkways that represent the bins vital to the regions mainstay industry sugar cane or connect via casual pathways, bridges over lagoons and through wooded parklands to scale the 11m observation tower for a birds eye view. Watch the many species that inhabit the TYTO main lagoon or view the lay of the land.A great photo opportunity!
Great place to stop, recharge and have a hike, the bigger lakes are farthest from car park, well worth the 10 - 15 minutes walk, many birds, wallabies and maybe a croc or two.

Thanks to the Parks service for providing and maintaining this AWESOME set of trails. It's about 60km from Cairns, so a bit of an effort to get there, and the final 2km is unsealed but I was ok going slowly in my 2WD car. There are no toilet or water facilities on site, but a big car park through which you access the trail head. There are 3 connected green trails, between 2 and 10km in length. Very well signposted, just the colour and number, and no silly names or sections to confuse you! There are also a couple of blue trails. About 4km in to trail 1 there's a mobile phone reception point- v thoughtful idea. The Green trails are flowing and not that technical; some sections wide enough for a vehicle, some lovely single-track sections. Trails 5 and 7 in particular were a delight, fast and flowing through lovely trees and alongside termite mounds and the occasional large cow. I spent about 2.5 hours and didn't see anyone else. Heaven! Great stuff.

Fantastic Bushwalk from this office thru the Whistling Kite Wetlands. Water views and amazing native flora and fauna. This walking trail is one of the best on Russell Island. A fifth star would be for sigage posted near ferry to notify tourists of this great attraction. The full walk is 45 mins and you tour a great section of pristine Russell island.

You can see beautiful sunsets from the park or walk around the oval, we have also visited for a picnic as it is a nice spot.

We were four travellers, all keen cyclists, and are return visitors to the trail. Another two days of great cycling with the track in very good condition in the main. The trail is very well signposted, and the surface is incredibly good. There are a couple of creek crossings that are best negotiated on foot if your are not a confident trail rider, all the rest are great. Some over friendly magpies about at this time of the year but they are just protecting their families from the marauding cyclists!!

This walk goes for miles - literally. I can't think of anywhere else in the world with such a relaxed walking environment, but complete with discrete toilets, picnic seating, regular access to the beach - and of course with a range of coffee shops, restaurants, ice-cream shops, motels and pubs just on the other side of the road. I hope that is never over-developed, so that it retains its ambience. 20 paces and you are off the walking track, and walking along the endless beach front, with a wide, gently sloping sandy beach, Frazer Island in the distance, and great shade spots under the bordering trees. Truly a paradise.
