The state of Arizona is one that features a fantastic diversity of landscapes and areas of geological interest. North Arizona is famous for the Grand Canyon, a colorful chasm with steep rocky walls more than a mile deep and stretching some 277 miles alongside the Colorado River. Other notable destinations in North Arizona include Flagstaff set alongside the San Francisco Peaks which has the largest ponderosa pine forest, Museum of Northern Arizona, and is close to a number of national parks and monuments. On the south side of Arizona lies the city of Phoenix, the largest in Arizona. Notable day trips in Phoenix include the Heard Museum which is one of America's largest collections of Native American art, Phoenix Museum of History, as well as the Desert Botanical garden which has a great collection of desert plants.

A popular sightseeing route in Arizonas Organ Pipe Cactus Monument that spans along a 21-mile loop.
We took this loop late in the day and loved it! The setting sun highlighted the beauty of this drive. By far the BEST drive in the park!

Pretty awesome view from three directions. The gravel road to the summit pass is easy for cars - though winding and an occasional switchback. Informational kiosks at the top told about early explorers to the area. It was worth a side-trip from Sierra Vista and close to a spot we had circled for hiking.

Great hike. When combined with High on the Hog and Hog Heaven this may be my favorite in Sedona. The views are superb. There are few sharp dropoffs -- but they are only just enough to make it fun.

Step out our front door and you will be on the Juan Bautista de Anza Trail that runs along the Santa Cruz River north and south. You will also be in the heart of some of the best birding in the state. Come to see the Rose-Throated Becard, the Gray Hawk and the Common Black Hawk.
Enjoyed the bird walk from the Nature Center throughout the Tubac area on Tuesdays at 8 a..m. and there is a hike every Friday from the Nature Center leaving at 8 a.m. Free and open to all.

An intermediate-level hiking and biking trail stretches 2.6 miles from Schenebly Hill Road down to Oak Creek.
The trailhead for this hike is easy to reach from town; it's just up Schnebly Hill Rd which is off the AZ-179 roundabout right before the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping area. Beautiful views and not too difficult. Enjoy!
