As you would expect, The Mountain State displays rustic charm with dramatic river gorges, large limestone caverns and spectacular mountain views. West Virginia hosts outdoor enthusiasts and family vacationers looking for fresh-air activities and serene mountain atmosphere. If stimulating city holidays are your preference, Charleston combines warm hospitality with a lovely riverside location. A family-friendly destination, you’ll discover children’s theatre, river park recreation and popular Bridge Road for shopping and dining. Smaller towns blend outdoor adventure with quaint village atmospheres. Set between the New, Greenbrier and Bluestone Rivers, Hinton is an historic rail town filled with turn-of-the-century architecture and a host of water activities at its doorstep – rafting, fishing, kayaking and more. In the heart of West Virginia, Summersville is a “Mountain Water Playground.” Its lakeside location encourages outdoor recreation from swimming and boating to scuba diving and rafting. And history buffs can trace Civil War battles throughout the states historic sites and state parks. Hiking or horseback riding along trails through deep hardwood forests is another family favorite, especially when you stop for a picnic along a clear mountain stream.

This was the first bed and breakfast my husband and I have ever stayed in. We were in the Martha Washington toom and I loved being able to access our room from the outside instead of having to ho through the main part of the inn. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were so comfortable and soft. The common areas were clean and inviting. Kit and her husband Gary and all the staff we met were very friendly and so accommodating. The breakfasts were fantastic!!When we come back to the area again I know where I'm staying for sure!

The Light Horse Inn is one of the most historic homes in Harpers Ferry. It's colorful past over the 225 year history make this home an ideal location to stay & explore the greater Harpers Ferry area. A filling gourmet breakfast is served each morning and included in your stay. Our three suites are spacious and all have an en suite full bathroom. Staying at our inn is a unique experience with a delightful step in the past. We are also in walking distance to the train station, historic Harpers Ferry and Harpers Ferry National Park.
We stayed here for a weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Lots of charm, well kept, and a great breakfast. Antique furniture (but modern comfortable long bed) makes you feel you're in colonial America. The innkeeper are wonderful and helpful.

A great choice for those looking to relax in a quiet country setting. More than just a Bed & Breakfast, our Inn is unique to the area with a modern wing of twelve individually themed guest rooms, each with a private bath. The 450 acre farm is centrally located in Pocahontas county and surrounded by National Forests and amazing local attractions. . • Labyrinth • Hiking trails • Farm tour - "Meet & Greet the Animals" horses, mini horses, donkeys and chickens.
We loved our "Fantasy" room - very spacious and beautifully decorated with lovely murals on the walls and ceiling. MQI does not serve breakfast or do anything other than check you in, but they do give you a daily breakfast voucher to Dean's Den which is 1/4 mile down the road. Andy the owner can make you just about any kind of breakfast you want: eggs, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches. He was not only kind and generous, he had good knowledge about what to do in the area. He'll be happy to help guide you! Andy was the best part of our stay - great guy! Regarding the "no technology zone" in the area (we had our phones off mostly) MQI has Ethernet cables to hook up to laptops, so you can access the internet that way. They also have an extensive DVD collection so you can watch movies at least. Enjoy being "unplugged" while you're here - but if that freaks you out, this may not be the best place to stay.

Elk River Hotel & Cafe is nestled along the Elk River in beautiful Sutton, West Virginia. Currently there are 10 comfortable guest rooms. Coming in the near future are 3 Geodesic Glamping Domes that will provide guests a unique experience of being close to nature with all the comforts of a hotel. The Cafe offers a wide variety of food, such as pizza, pastas, sandwiches, etc.
Under new management since November of 2021, the hotel and staff are working hard to make the experience even better than in the past. We had a delightful experience! Very comfortable accommodations and super-friendly staff. We love that the hotel is expanding by adding eleven new “glamming domes” with private bathrooms—should be lots of fun! Big, made to order breakfast. Dinner available in the little cafe. Beautiful locations. What can I say? I’d stay there again anytime!

Honestly, I didnt have any high expectations. Just wanted a place to stay near HIgh Street and have parking. First impression while booking was amazing. Paula was very helpful and listening to us ( we were two couples), she recommended specific two rooms and I went with it. Check in Day - she sent me a text with the codes to the hotel and the rooms. The Rooms: We had both rooms on the first floor and it was ideal. We had the room facing the street. Large windows, bright. You could smell the clean in the room/bathroom. Fluffy towels. Soft sheets. Compfortable pillows. Mattress was a bit hard but no issues there. There was a small area with a fridge, bottled water, and coffee. The other room had a huge bathroom. Absolutely loved our space. Parking was never an issue. The main street was one block away. The Asylum, right next door, has amazing drinks. This is a Hidden Gem indeed.

Immaculate rooms in this historic mansion coupled with elegant bathrooms and a lovely breakfast make this property the best B & B experience I have had by far. Sited on a hill with a panoramic view of the surrounding green hills, the rooms are quiet and restful.

The Born family invites you to get away and unwind among the hills of the West Virginia Countryside. John and Angela Born met and married in the river front city of St. Louis, Missouri where they, along with their six children, made many summer memories picking fresh fruit from the fields of local farmers. After attending a year long farming course in the Midwest, John and Angela moved back to West Virginia with a desire to provide fresh, locally grown strawberries for the Charleston area. As they began searching for properties, the Borns quickly noticed the natural beauty surrounding the 130-year-old farm house they now call home. The farm’s fertile soil, abundant streams, and family friendly atmosphere make it a wonderful location for growing and sharing fresh produce. Angela, now as a fourth generation innkeeper, and John as a first generation farmer invite you to their West Virginia home to relax, unwind and make memories with your family.
My daughter and I had an excellent experience! The hosts were genuinely kind and friendly and solicitous of our comfort (without being at all intrusive). We loved walking along the trails on the property. Very pretty! I was very impressed by the quality of the breakfast Angela prepared for us and especially grateful for how carefully and creatively she addressed my daughter's food allergies. It was delicious!

I really want to like this hotel. Our son goes to college nearby & it's the closest hotel in the Choice chain, so I'd like to keep earning and using points. We've stayed there seven times since it became a Comfort Inn last summer, and each time the hotel has slid a little further downhill. On the plus side, the rooms have always been clean and the beds comfy. If those are the only two things you care about in a hotel room, it's fine. The phones have not worked ever since we started coming, and to some people, it won't matter, but cell phone reception in WV can be spotty, and sometimes you need a land line. It also helps to have a hotel phone to contact the front desk quickly and easily. If the guests in the room next door keep you awake with their hot, heavy, screaming sex at 3 AM (yes, it really happened to us), it would help to have a phone in the room to de-escalate the situation. It is a cheaply, poorly constructed property, and the noise problem is terrible. The walls are so paper thin that you can hear the guests in the next room changing their mind. Don't even get me started about the hallway noise; it's awful. The noise from the smokers gathering in front of the building is no fun, either. The toilets are so low to the floor that I thought I was going to have to call a wrecker to get up. The breakfast is all prepackaged stuff, and most of it is not exactly healthy. If you want a big breakfast, budget for it and go across the parking lot to the Huddle House. If you want to eat something healthy, bring it with you from home because there aren't that many healthy options. Avoid the milk; it was stored in metal pitchers with no insulation and not kept in the refrigerator. They also should plow their parking lot when it snows. We should have packed ice skates. The next time we come, we'll probably stay over in Weston and sacrifice the convenience of the location for a quiet room and a better night's sleep.

The Inn at Canaan, a stunningly renovated motel offering Charming Style and Cozy Comfort, sits on 10 acres of beautiful rolling land with views of the mountains and a nearby pond. Come stay with us and enjoy the beauty of nature's splendor in Canaan Valley. Located in scenic Canaan Valley, West Virginia, we are only a five -ten minute drive to Timberline Mountain, Canaan Valley Ski Resort, White Grass Touring Center and the Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge Visitors Center. Blackwater Falls State Park is within a 20 minute drive. Seneca Rocks, Dolly Sods, NROCKS, Gandy Dancers Theater, the Elkins Train Depot, home to the Tygart Flyer, and many other attractions, are within an hour's drive. The Inn at Canaan is your cozy and comfortable place to relax in after a long day of hiking, bird watching, kayaking, skiing, riding trains or exploring the quaint towns of Davis and Thomas.
We came for one night during ski season. Very clean rooms, hot water (amazing after a long day on the slopes), nice toiletries, quiet hours after 10 pm (so no, it’s not for the party crowd!), nice bed, coffee maker, fridge, microwave and friendly check-in…breakfast is basic but that’s not why you come here. It’s the closest lodging to Timberline and Canaan Valley ski areas. Laundry (coin operated), on first floor. Leave a tip for cleaning…would totally return here. If noise bothers you (which wasn’t an issue for us!), you can turn on the room fan.
