The pub was great and the bouncer on a Saturday night was very kind and professional. He was helping people get taxis and making sure they were okay, which was appreciated. I would definitely visit again.

Elmdon Lodge is a sixteen bedroomed , family run guest house. We are located in Acocks Green - a suburb of great character and charm to the south east of Birmingham city centre. The guest house is to be found in an attractive and leafy cul de sac, tucked well away from noise and traffic, but within a 5 minute walk of the railway station with excellent links to Birmingham city centre and Solihull. Convenient for NEC and NIA
Can't rate this place highly enough, we had such a lovely stay here. The owners made us feel so at home. Like family. Nothing was to much trouble. They were amazing. All the furniture, flowers and plants were beautiful and the breakfast was definitely a 10/10. My older son didn't want to leave. We will be back again soon. You must try their breakfast ?

Breakfast pretty boring: just bread/basic croissants, juice, cereal, and fruit plus ham and cheese slices. Not even eggs! Subjective stuff: Room dated and furnishings loose. Welcome booklet in room out of date and inaccurate. Bed was comfortable enough though! Not subjective: WiFi absolutely appalling to the point of nonexistent. Speed low (few Mbps down depending strongly on location and device) and WiFi access points very unreliable. Coverage incomplete and my room was in a dead spot so avoid room 11 if you want any internet access.

Stayed here whilst visiting family in the area with my elderly parents. The hotel is well situated close to Halesowen and Birmingham centre and is on the bus route if needed. The old pub building was very warm and inviting and all the staff couldn’t do enough for you. I would particularly like to mention Joan who worked in the mornings at reception/ behind the bar, and the lady who worked in the afternoons also although I didn’t get her name, they were both friendly and helpful, as were all the staff. The bedrooms were spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The only down side was the lumpy pillows but they didn’t affect my sleep. Overall, comfortable and good value for money

Noisy pipework from adjoining accommodation, generally old worn out furniture, bed and floor creaky....no attention to detail in rectifying small faults eg bathroom handle loose and incomplete, shower hose leaking, just needs a washer, toilet seat broken, no handle on integrated fridge door, light switch faulty. Access road is shockingly bad, riddled with soòo many pot holes and its a quite a distance from road to accommodation, so come in an off road vehicle. Described as chalet, but is joined to three adjoining units, hence noise. For anyone staying longer, an oven would be beneficial and there's no laundry facilities..TV was minuscule.

I booked this hotel on the strength of its reviews but could not bring myself to stay the night and checked our writing off the cost as it was so bad. As i entered the hotel i was assulted by the smell of stale beer from the bar which dominates the entrance and transported back to 1980s back street bars with sticky carpets. Nevertheless when I checked in I was proudly told I had the best room in the house and I was hopeful that the bedrooms which were accessed by a separate corridor would be better....I was wrong. Putting aside the incredibly dated decor, featuring fake mahogany styling and 1990 striped/ patterned wallpaper combo motched with peeling paint on the window frames and an actual TV cabinet. The room smelled of dust and mustiness reminiscent of visiting elderly relatives. The hankercheif table cloth on the bedside table was stained and the satin quilted bedspread and pillow cases looked slightly greasy. In fact when I sat on the bed the pillows themselves smelled as if a greasy head had slept on them for 10 years without washing them ?. The bathroom too was dated with a corner jacuzzi bath encased in mahogany panelling (no shower) and the sealant/grout stained by black mould. I hate to think about the water jets which I know are difficult to clean at the best of times but based on the remainder of the room. As a result I checked straight back out without requesting a refund. I was granted one however, though I suspect this to be so that my booking which I made through booking.com could be cancelled so I could not leave a review. Hence the review here.
