Refer to Vancouver Island as Victoria Island and risk a chorus of eye-rolls from the otherwise-friendly locals. Yes, Victoria is the main city on the island, but there are many distinct flavors to its logging and fishing settlements. Food and wine enthusiasts flock to the Comox Valley farm region, while the more outdoorsy types get their fix along the remote, forested beaches of North Vancouver Island. Visit the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve at Clayoquot Sound and you’ll return full of cocktail-party factoids.

Birds of a Feather was a great experience! I happened to be traveling alone and I felt like I was with family. You can tell the hosts put their heart and soul into making this place more than special for their guests! Free range eggs for breakfast and extraordinary hot muffins right out of the oven? It was truly more than I expected and I will return.

1912 heritage Inn offering bed and breakfast with fabulous ocean views from all guest rooms. Located beside historic Beacon Hill Park in walking distance to downtown Victoria and across the street from the beach. Eleven spacious guest rooms with Ocean and Park views. Romantic getaway featuring jacuzzis, fireplaces, stained glass, antiques. Private bathrooms.
Dashwood Manor is a lovely old Victorian mansion with gorgeous views of the Salish Sea a short drive from downtown Victoria. I chose the Dorset Room as it had an outdoor balcony with a great view of the water and Olympia Range. It's on the 3rd floor so be ready to tote up your luggage. Breakfast is included and it was delicious. They started out every morning with yogurt and berries followed by fluffy pancakes, potatoes and bacon one day and eggs, toast and sausage another. OJ and apple juice as well as tea and coffee are offered. Cookies are a nice treat in the afternoon. Water and soda are available in the Breakfast room frig at all times. Our room was clean and comfortable and I'd definitely stay there again. And there's a wonderful walkway all along the water to help enjoy the view.

Nestled into two and one-half acres of heritage gardens and old-growth cedars along the scenic Somass River in Port Alberni, British Columbia, the Cedar Wood Lodge, built new in 1998, is furnished with modern comforts and beautiful antiques. The spacious guest lounge encompasses a fine billiards table, two small libraries, a relaxing sitting area, fireplace, and garden view bistro dining room where the complimentary daily breakfast buffet is served. We came into Port Alberni after a long drive only to find that most of the rooms were booked with a convention and the Cops for Cancer crew. But after the assistance of the Best Western staff we are able to find a room at the Cedar Wood Lodge. What a beautiful place and the owners made us feel welcomed. I highly recommend staying there.

This Historic Heritage Inn is only 2 blocks from Victoria harbour, the Parliament Buildings, BC Museum, Empress Hotel, and a great many restaurants and shops. The Inn recently changed ownership (in 2017), and all seven suites have been fully renovated and upgraded in almost every detail. The Inn is located directly across from beautiful Beacon Hill Park with numerous walking trails leading to the ocean. See stunning views of the local beaches, Washington State mountains, free roaming peacocks, visit the petting zoo, fountains and gardens galore. Every suite at The Inn offers it's own private entrance, private 4 piece bathroom, heated floors, outdoor patio, secure underground parking, free wifi, refrigerator, microwave, fireplaces (excluding the Van Gogh suite), and large flat screen tv. Restaurants are plentiful and close for easy access to meals. The Robert Porter Inn provides a truly private and unique experience, in a one of a kind heritage home.
A colleague and I stayed here in early June 2022 on a two-day business trip to Victoria. Two spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge kitchen, dining room and sitting room made for an airy stay that felt relaxing, with lots of room to walk about, easy access to the outdoors, the Inner Harbour, Beacon Hill Park and a short walk to James Bay Village for coffee or drinks. Parking is underground in the adjacent condo complex, making for a very convenient stay.

They had price listed as $150/night until we arrived to check in, then it went up to $300/nt. when we arrived in person. Its not even that nice a place! They were pressuring us to take it because it was a busy weekend, and we had to decide within 10 minutes (it was only 1 pm). Thankfully we made a quick call and found a room at the Super 8 for $170/nt. Walk away from this place and don't look back.

The Latch Inn, on Harbour Road in Sidney, is steeped in history and a glamourous past. In 1925, the Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia, Walter C. Nichol, commissioned famous architect Samuel Maclure to build him a summer home on a piece of forested property on the Saanich peninsula. The residence, completed in 1926 and coined ‘Miraloma', was a brilliant confluence of the environment and artistic design. Even today, it oozes an old-world elegance and charm. Once the playground for the upper crust, it hosted sumptuous garden parties and welcomed visits from dignitaries and royalty. Edward, the Prince of Wales, and his brother George enjoyed the classy and comfortable accommodation in a state tour of British Columbia in 1927. In the 1940s, it became known as ‘The Latch', reflecting the fact that every door in the house is opened with a latch and iron key.
Very unique and charming home. Our recent two night stay at The Latch bed & breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable. Our rooms were very comfortable and we also had use of the large living/sitting room areas as well, where there is a large fireplace and a comfortable space to visit, play board games and enjoy a coffee. There were fresh baked cookies put out at 7:00 pm and coffee laid out at 7:00 am. Lovely location and beautiful grounds and outside patio as well. The breakfast selections included with our stay were delicious creations by their chef and the food presentation was amazing. Dominic and Michael took good care of us as I am sure David would have as well, but he wasn’t on shift while we were there. Would definitely recommend The Latch to friends and family, heck, and strangers too. Enjoy!

Please come and join us for an overnight experience you will not forget! Our 1944 converted tugboat is simply gorgeous! Includes 8 state rooms, 6 bathrooms-5 with showers, large salon, 900 sq' deck and hot tub. French Moroccan chef and so much more! My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this gem in September - we called it the “botel” and decided we couldn’t pass this opportunity for a new experience. While the cabins may be small (and charming), they are very clean and come with a view of the marina. The owners prepared an amazing Moroccan style breakfast every morning; a different morning, a different flavor. Dan is the nicest of hosts, he knows very well the area around and suggested great spots. Overall this was a great experience - highly recommended for a short period.

NEW OWNERS APRIL 2014! We are a west-coast style, boutique hotel, located near the top of the historic, Malahat Drive on Vancouver Island. Overlooking the Saanich Inlet, you will be taken a world away from the routine of day to day life. Beautiful British Columbia encapsulated; mountains, ocean, birds, orcas, trees, all right outside your window. Drink in the sunrise along with your morning coffee; then settle in for the evening and watch, as the moon rises in the night sky and its reflection is mirrored by the calm waters below. Each room boasts a large, two person soaker tub, with nothing between you and the great outdoors except a large, picture window! Turn on the gas fireplace, pour yourself a drink and take some time to relax, rejuvenate and restore!
This place has the best view of any place I've ever stayed and the restaurant is delicious. The staff was more than accommodating and gave us the lock code so that we could check in after midnight. And when my flight back to the US was delayed one day, Moon Water allowed us to stay an additional night for half price. Highly recommended!

Nothing feels more like Victoria than the Pendray Inn and Tea House (formerly the Gatsby Mansion). A boutique B&B experience in a historic Victorian mansion where each of its 9 rooms has its own distinct characteristics and charm. A heritage building, the mansion does not have an elevator and may not be suitable for guests with mobility issues.
We had a 1 - bedroom suite with a small balcony overlooking the inner harbour. Our room was delightful - spacious, clean and quiet. The bedroom was lovely and the bathroom had a large claw foot tub! Everything was perfect!

The price was average for a place to stay, but the quality of this place was poor. The beds were clean enough and there was hot water, but the carpet was very dirty and we did not feel confident leaving valuables behind during the day. This was the only option when we were there, but it was way too expensive for what we got. Side note: Wifi is included but the password "didn't work" either night, so don't expect it. Isn't the biggest issue, but on top of everything else...
