This beautiful archipelago, where Scottish Gaelic is still spoken, is divided into the Inner and Outer Hebrides and stretches the length of Scotland's west coast. The most visited and largest of the Western Isles is the brooding Isle of Skye, a short ferry ride or bridge away from the mainland. Islay, home to prolific whisky production, is another gem. Highlights of the less visited Outer Isles include stark Lewis and the town of Stornoway, rugged Harris, with sandy beaches and tranquil Barra.

The Skye Inn is a modern, comfortable and friendly inn, located a short walk from Portree Main Square on the Isle of Skye. The perfect place for a relaxing evening before heading out to explore our magical island. We have tasty, traditional meals, and a great selection of Scottish drinks, and a friendly team on hand to help you make the most of your stay.
We recently stayed here during our bus trip to Skye. The room was spotless with a modern bathroom and a very appreciated smart tv. After full days on a bus getting back to our rooms and popping on a movie from our streaming app was so lovely. There’s lot of places to eat in Portree but we chose to eat in the hotel both days because the staff were phenomenal and really made it so welcoming and fun. Andy, Johnny Tessa and Rihanna were just some of the people we had the pleasure to interact with. The food was great and the dinning area/lounge room was lovely and open yet cosy. Thanks again everyone!

Pennygate Lodge is a Georgian Manse on the Isle of Mull, built in the 1830's and with a wonderful view overlooking Craignure Bay. We are centrally located on the Isle and only a few minutes (drive) from the main ferry terminal, thus creating the perfect base from which to explore the isle. Pennygate offers six tastefully fully refurbished and very comfortable bedrooms .Pennygate Lodge stands proudly amongst extensive lawn areas and gardens, and relaxation in beautifully understated surroundings.
After driving through the Highlands for more than a week on fiendishly narrow, relentlessly twisting roads amidst surprisingly impatient Scots, our three-night sojourn in the Pennygate Lodge was a wonderful and delightfully relaxing tonic. Mull exceeded our expectations, and this immaculately restored, beautifully appointed manse was the ideal base. I rarely write reviews, but Pennygate Lodge deserves it - very highly recommended.

Recently rebuilt on the site of the old Islay Hotel, offering 13 excellent bedrooms. From standard rooms with walk-in showers to extra large rooms with Jacuzzi bath and separate shower we can accommodate all requirements. Fantastic restaurant with a great selection of Island landed seafood dishes along side our Game supplied by local estates and Argyll Beef and Lamb. Our bar has one of the best collections of Islay whisky on the Island. The hotel is open all year around and are ideally situated next to Port Ellen Harbour and Ferry terminal. We are the nearest hotel to Laphroig, Lagavulin and Argbeg distilleries.
My wife and I had a birthday dinner in the Islay Hotel. We had not eaten here for quite a while and were very pleasantly surprised at the extensive and exciting menu. We both ha a starter and main, but couldn't try the puddings as we were so full. Our meal was perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and expertly served. We couldn't fault the experience. This was easily the best meal we have ever had in the Islay, not that there was anything wrong in the past, but this was exceptional. Well done all and thank you.

Situated at the end of a mile-plus long single-track country lane in the north of Skye, this is an excellent hotel for those who wish to get away from it all. As the name suggests, it is a converted house with large rooms and old-fashioned furniture, but the beds are comfortable and the bathroom has all the usual facilities. Unfortunately there is no lift, but the helpful staff are willing to carry your suitcase to your room. There is a lounge with a real fire and also a snooker room. The restaurant’s menu, whilst not extensive, gives a reasonable choice. The real plus for this hotel is the staff for whom nothing seems to be too much trouble. They are cheerful, friendly and efficient.

Welcoming small hotel with a rustic 40 seater restaurant serving locally sourced and freshly prepared produce. Traditional Scottish pub (also dog friendly).
Having spent many years coming here as a local person, it is safe to say that the recent changes to staff leave a lot to be desired. The current bar staff seem to believe that the hotel and bar is run for their convenience. The staff are incredibly rude and lacking in any customer service skill. I understand the hotel has recently changed manager but still....wont be back. Avoid. There are better places on Skye to go.

A lovely Inn overlooking Broadford Bay in Skye's second biggest village.. WiFi and Parking free of charge. Restaurant serving meals using as much as Hebridean produce as possible. A great place to explore the Isle Of Skye from. Rooms are clean, cosy and comfortable with great views of the sea.
We paid the extra for the sea view and are so glad we did. It was fabulous to just look out to the bay with geese, ducks cormorants etc on the little island opposite. Seeing an otter pop up twice ( briefly) on our second morning was the icing on the cake. The room was massive with a comfy bed and everything immaculately clean. We received a warm welcome and the food was terrific. The pan fried bass on black olive mash was an absolute winner. Breakfast was pretty fabulous too. If we manage to make it back to Skye we’re coming here again!

I really liked this hotel. Welcoming gardens lead you in to a welcoming and friendly team. Our room (Room 12) was excellent, and spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed. I especially appreciated the cooler fridge as I have medicine that I need to keep cold and it is always such a bonus for me when hotels have this feature. Breakfast service was efficient and the food was delicious, with a good selection of breakfast options. I love when an experience gives you more than you were expecting which is what we had with Park Lodge Hotel, would have no hesitation in recommending it.

All rooms en-suite; packed lunch offered instead of breakfast if going on early ferry. 1 mile from ferry terminal; will collect if requested.
Brae Lea House in Lochboisdale was about a minutes walk from the harbour area. Our host, Rupert, was very welcoming and we had a lovely, quiet room with plenty of power sockets – a frustrating absent feature in a lot of properties. We both slept well and had an excellent breakfast before leaving. One of the best aspects was that Rupert had obviously spent a lot of time composing a guide to the islands. This was extremely detailed and I really should have paid a lot more attention. The road to Lochskipport was as good as claimed too so thanks for that Rupert!

Very comfortable Guest House within walking distance from town centre and local restaurants. Opposite golf course and castle grounds. All rooms en-suite, flat screen t.V.And free Wi-Fi.
Excellent place to stay in Stornaway. The rooms are well equipped and the towel rail in the bathroom makes the whole bathroom warm. Shower was good too. Breakfast eggs were perfect. It is an easy walk to a great coffee shop and then a bit further to the main city centre.
