A magnet for skiers and hikers, these dramatic peaks – including the iconic Matterhorn – range from 3,000 to 15,000 feet and spread across three-fifths of the country. Abundant glaciers, scenic valleys and gorgeous alpine lakes add to the region's visual appeal. The Glacier Express train travels the 7.5-hour route through the Swiss Alps from Zermatt to St. Moritz, passing through fairy-tale villages and over 291 bridges along the way.

We had a fantastic time at Au Club Alpin and loved every carefully selected detail that made the whole experience a superb combination of leading edge technology while preserving the heritage and locality of the original building. The staff was extremely nice and showed us great hospitality. We were so impressed that we even decided to return on our home journey, which made it a perfect ending to a great vacation. Thank you so much!!

Hi, Me and my group had such a good time in this hotel so we had to give it a review. Location: The hotel located close to the train station and to the bus/taxi stations. Because this village dont allow car access its very important to be close as possible to the stations. The hotel is located in a good spot when you need to take the e-bus for the lifts. Most of the hotels that are in the middle of the village have to wait couple of buses just to get in because the bus get fulled very soon and then they have to wait. When I watched the people who wait i really fely bad for them. In arca&noca(which is located very close to the e-bus station) its one of the first stations so you always have place to enter the bus and head directly to the lifts. Arca&noca is 7 minute walk from the center. And 30 seconds walk from the dener supermarket. Hotel: The rooms are big and beautiful with multiple balconys and alot of windows. Also the room is very modern. Each room has a kitchen inside with all the needed tools to cook. Clean: The room cleaners change towels every day and cleanning the room from bottom to top. We've made a dinner one day and tried to keep the room clean as possible but the room floor had some dirt.. not something that is easy to spot.. after the ski day we came back and the floor was fully cleaned(the cleanning standrat is very high). Food: Great food with a lot of choices. And they also made special food for our requests. Now I personally think the above points are enough for the 5 stars but what we had such a lovley time also from the service it self which was extraordinary. The owner named Maria is such a lovley lady that guest us like we are her family. She always seek to help. Invited us for a lovley dinner which was tartar and wine. For a group of 14 people. She treated us so nicely and always tried her best for us to have a great time. We didnt managed to close a dinner because all the restaurants needed a reservation. She called her friends and used her connections to reserve us tables for the best restaurants in the area. We thought that she acted as she act because we are group of 14 people but we saw that she is like that with everyone in the hotel. She as a charm and she is just a lovley lady and we really had so much fun in the hotel. All the other workers are also super nice. And this hotel is just worth it. Ill add some pictures of the room so you can see yourselves. Would add the breakfast but we are leaving today(this is why the room is messy)

Le bucca di Gandria, is a sweet family run Italian restaurant and b&b. The owner was so helpful and helped me for a wedding we were attending, by going out of her way and bringing me a steam iron. The room is clean with stunning views of the lake and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony. Shared toilet was clean and the communal kitchen had plenty of supplies of tea and coffee and snacks. The restaurant is not your typical Italian but with refined food. A great find and very quaint!

We spent one night at the hotel on a cold misty night. Very particular atmosphere, between past and present. Confortable room. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent, the menu offered a variety of very astonishing dishes. One would not expect it at 2400 m above see level!

To call this charming bed and breakfast a hillside pensione with a great view is to understate the facts. First, the hill is more like a cliff. Second, the pensione itself, ever so well maintained and appointed by its able innkeeper, Andrea, is beyond charming. The rooms are clean and elegant, and the entire establishment has a flare that is both intimate and lovely. Third, the “great view” is better described as stunning, and it is surrounded by elements of class and style. Andrea’s breakfast terrace looks down some 500 vertical feet onto the aqua colors of Lago Maggiore below, and across the lake are dark green hills that jump from the opposite shore. The terrace is topped with a shady grape arbor. When we visited at the end of August, it was bursting with delicious Concord grapes. Then, as if to gild the lily, the view from the terrace is framed by tall palm trees that stand like pillars set in Andrea’s tiered garden below. Yes, the word “charming” does not do it justice. Beyond the view, we found Andrea and her staff friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious. As to the only possible down-side of its location – the fact that you have to go uphill to get there – do not be daunted. Although I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the climb up the steep stairs from Locarno’s old city up to the pensione – “only a kilometer’s walk” up the hill – except for those who are fit and able, and although I definitely would not attempt it with luggage, yet do not lose heart. For those trying to trim costs, the pensione sits right at a bus stop. Locarno’s efficient buses will carry you directly there or back to town, and a special card given to you when you check into the pensione means you can take the bus for free within the city core. If a bus is not handy when headed uphill, a taxi from the city center will land you at the pensione in a matter of minutes. If you have a car, then you have no worries, but you will want to get used to narrow winding roads with lots of hairpin turns. The last possible option to get up the hill without climbing steps is to take the funicular railway. Although it might seem charming at first, it is not as convenient as a bus or a taxi. It is still a 10 minute walk between the uphill funicular station and the pensione, and the funicular’s schedule is nowhere as convenient as the bus. In short, we highly recommend this lovely spot. My only regret is we did not spend longer there!

We stayed three nights in Garni Nessi hotel. They gave us a bed for our baby for free. The room was quite big and the bathroom had a tube. The owner always made sure that we had a parking place. Very friendly staff. The city center can be reached in 10 min by foot from the hotel. There is also a swimming pool. We would be happy to come back to this hotel. Thank you very much for everything!

Cosy Hotel located in the old town of Chur. Since there are no cars allowed in this part of town it is mostly a quiet area. The building is a historic house of one of the guilds in Chur and was built around 1483. The greater part of the rooms have shower/WC. All rooms have free Wifi and LCD-TV.
Super kind personal And extra comfy rooms, also super calm and quiet. Breakfast was all right and the location was near perfect, the hotel is located in the very center of the old town so it makes it very cute. It takes less than 10 minutes by foot to get to the train station and you can have a nice walk to get to a nice point of view of the valley up the hill behind the church. That was a very pleasant experience, would come again. I loved that the hotel was so nice looking in a typical Swiss architecture way.
