This recently refurbished boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favorite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble.
Lovely Hotel with an amazing "inn keeper" who greeted you at the door and took you to your room. Loved the food and bar area. Location was amazing. Dan was very accommodating and gave great information about what to see and do.

Set in the heart of Shakespeare country only four miles from Stratford upon Avon the Blue Boar Inn represents the best of an old English country pub, the oldest parts of the building date back to the early 1600s. Stay in comfortable en suite bedrooms, some which still retain impressive original features, such as wooden beams and stone walls. Including a range of three, four and five bed family rooms. Food is available from lunchtimes 12.00 noon- 2,30pm and dinner 6.00pm- 9.00pm options include an à la carte restaurant menu and a homemade pub food menus complimented by a range of ales and wines.According to church records, William Shakespeare was married in Temple Grafton church in the year 1582 to one Ann Whateley. The name is thought to be a misspelling of Hathaway.Records show that there has been an alehouse at the inn since that time, also a glass-covered well in the restaurant bar is some 35 feet deep and its pure water was once used in the brewing process. today, the well is the home of a family of gold fish. From this comfortable and convenient relaxing base, you can explore Stratford Warwick, the Vale of Evesham, Cotswolds Slightly further afield, The Malvern Hills, and Birmingham and NEC is within about 30 minutes' drive by car. Here at the Blue Boar we are here to cater for your every need and can arrange hire cars, taxis and packed lunches to compliment your touring of our wonderful local attractions.
Would thoroughly recommend this little hotel. It’s full of character, has a lovely atmosphere and the staff there are superb! We needed to check in early as we were going to a wedding and they arranged for our room to be ready (it was spotless)so we could check in and get ready. They really could do enough for us and are super friendly. I will definitely stay there again when I’m in the area

WWW (What Went Well?) * Good location - close to centre and river. Adjacent to excellent tourist information office and multi-storey car park, because no parking at the hotel. * Friendly staff. * Breakfast EBI (Even Better If) * Better selection of refreshments in room (No biscuits, no sweeteners, stingy on milk - only 4 x UHT milk in a stick. Had to ask for fresh milk from bar, which was provided free on first two days, but for some reason charged 75p for a tiny jug on day three). * Bath mat not provided from day one. Asked and told new ones on order. Mat provided on day three. * Toilet brush should be provided. * Enough towels should be provided from day one. Asked and more provided on day two.

The Bell offers eight bedrooms, including one suite, set in the stunning village of Alderminster. There’s plenty to do in the area with scenic walks in the nearby villages of Ilmington, Alderminster, and Preston on Stour or you can visit the many attractions that Stratford-upon-Avon has to offer just a short drive away. The Bell offers a private dining room, with its own balcony looking over the stoned terrace and lawn beyond, that seats up to fourteen.
We took friends here for dinner and we were disappointed. Whilst the environment is nice and the garden is lovely, some of the food we had was not good. A couple of dishes were nice but others were were tasteless and overcooked. The lady serving at the table was rather brusque and not very personable. Overall we felt it was below average and we probably won’t eat here again but will go for a drink to enjoy the very pretty terrace and gardens.
