Absolutely excellent!

We stayed at Headland House for two nights, and from our arrival to departure we were continuously taken aback by the brill hospitality! Mark is an excellent host, taking the time to speak to us and give us advice on our travels! He was so accommodating and kind, a genuinely lovely person! Breakfast was delicious and they were happy to make amendments for me (vegetarian), the room was cosy and fully equipped with everything we needed (including a daily delivery of freshly baked goods), the location is great (2 minute walk to train station which was great as driving around central St Ives isn’t something we wanted to attempt), our room had a beautiful view of the water too. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when visiting St Ives! 10/10 would recommend.

Green Apple Bed & Breakfast

Offering great value for money in a great location! The bed & breakfast has recently undergone an upgrade to create a lovely Cornish treat. We offer a continental buffet breakfast, WI-FI, sea views, parking and a range of rooms including family rooms. We do have a garden and there is a park on across the road from us. St Ives town centre only a 5 minute bus trip away or a 30 minute walk or a slightly longer, but very attractive coastal path. A short walk down the hill and you are on the stunning Carbis Bay beach. We are also within easy access of the train station and the nearest bus stop is just across the road. We are delighted to inform you that the bed & breakfast came into new ownership in early 2013.

A great place to stay.

Lost some of its character

Reviewed By Mandy R

We have stayed here many times over the years and have not been disappointed, until this visit. The substantial price increase does not reflect the experience. Staff were not as attentive as they used to be, although the quality of the breakfast is still good. Time for us to look for somewhere else we think!! Such a shame.

Called in by chance but turned out to be real treat

Just dropped in by chance on way back from day out today. Hope I've got it right as this was the name on top of our receipt but place was empty and 'Ginger Ben' was cleaning up after a large party had left. He immediately stopped what he was doing and tidied his things away. Was so friendly. Seated us at a nice table, brought menus and took drinks order straight away. My partner had the chicken curry and I had the beefburgers. Both excellent! Ben came to check everything was okay during meal and when we finished. All staff said Goodbye on way out Would certainly recommend. Shame we're going home in couple of days or we would definitely be back

The Engine Inn

Under new management since November 2020 following a full refurbishment in April 2019, The Engine Inn is a traditional Cornish Grade II listed pub situated in a rural area between St. Ives and Penzance in West Cornwall with a huge Car Park. The welcome here is as warm as the log fires. The pub serves home cooked, reasonably priced pub meals - whenever possible, utilising fresh local ingredients - and a range of wines, lagers, ciders and Cornish ales. En suite accommodation is housed within a separate converted Grade II listed barn, offering privacy and peace. In the case of the first floor room, stunning moorland views whilst the Ground Floor room offers easy access. There are regular events through the week, including a charity quiz night and occasional acoustic nights, open mic nights and other live music events.

Very disappointing - we won’t be going back.

Reviewed By Sandygranny

We drove past the Engine Inn and thought it looked like a nice olde worlde pub so googled it and there was a wide range of food on the online menu. On the basis of this we decided to pop in for a meal on a Friday evening. What a mistake to make! Apparently, Friday night is fish and chips night or scampi and chips only. We opted for the fish and chips, thinking it would be locally sourced but it was not what we were expecting, the batter was rock hard and the chips were very dry, the cook must have gone to some budget supermarket. The pub is dog friendly and while we were eating, the people on the table next to us let their dog run under our table which we thought was very unhygienic. Nothing against the dog, but the owner should have been more considerate and kept the animal under control and my husband told him so. He couldn’t have cared less. The staff didn’t seem bothered if they served you or not and were chatting between themselves all the time we were there - perhaps they should take a course in customer care! We won’t be going back. It’s a shame really because from the outside it looks like a nice pub to go for a drink.

Stunning location

I was switched to this accommodation at the last minute when my booked stay became unavailable. On arrival I was very pleased. I found it very convenient for the Railway Station and St Ives Town Centre. There is a short, very steep climb, but it could be avoided by taking the longer way round if walking. The front of the property overlooks the harbour, with a stunning view. Access is by entry code. I received clear instructions in advance. The property was spotlessly clean and my room very comfortable, nicely decorated with shower, toilet and wash hand basin. I visited early in the season and there was plenty of heat to keep me cosy on the chilly evenings. There is a well equipped shared kitchen. The accommodation made my stay in the beautiful harbour town of St Ives very comfortable and enjoyable.

This B & B is tasteful, beautifully clean, with delightful and high quality furnishings and decor throughout. We stayed in Room 2 which had a superking bed that was incredibly comfortable and beautiful walk-in shower. Landlady Sharon was friendly and helpful, as indeed was Phil. Breakfast was delicious, beautifully cooked and presented by a very friendly and attractive young lady. From the experience we had, I have no hesitation in recommending this B & B. We will certainly book in again when next visiting the area.

Amazing stay

We had a very clean room with a very comfy bed- room 1. Smelt amazing in entrance area and room. Lovely access to the garden and conservatory area, which we used in the evening to sit and have a drink outside. The hosts were so lovely and attentive and nothing was too much trouble! Great options with hot and cold for breakfast and catered very well for gluten free. Good sized portions for breakfast and offered hot drinks, fresh juice and fresh jams and marmalades in jars. Great selection of tea and coffee in the room and used chilly's bottle for milk to keep chilled and more eco friendly than little plastic sachets which was good. Amazing quality bedding and towels and good shower. They provided an information book which was a helpful addition. Free parking on site and checked us in early which was great as our room was ready. Great location to St Ives with a 10 minute bus journey- around £2.40 return each. Bus stop just around the corner. Would recommend to friends and family and stay again when next in the area! Thanks for a great stay!
