Beautiful hotel in tropical forest atmosphere with Creole Fusion Cuisine and Bar. Open 7 days a week from 6:30am-10pm.
Since there has been an extended period of unrest and touring Haiti has not been possible, it took over a year for us to finally travel to Petionville and stay at La Reserve. During that time, Vicaire was very helpful with our room choice and patient with the uncertainty of our stay. So, after much anticipation, last week, it was finally advisable for us to travel. I am pleased to say that we were the first tourists in approximately 6 months, and we couldn’t have had a better trip! La Reserve was great, including air conditioning and a very generous breakfast of fruit and an omelette. We ate dinner there both nights, and the food was excellent. Our room had a lovely balcony. The location and ambience of La Reserve were exactly what we were hoping for. I am hopeful that tourism will pick up. It is desperately needed!

Located at the end of a road off Route de Freres on the down side of Petionville, one must have their own means of transport to get to and from this hotel. It's very similar in design to the other local Haitian hotels catering primarily to a Haitian expatriate clientele...large, ornate structure with lush interior garden; a swimming pool shared with the adjacent hotel; simple, clean painted rooms with bed, TV, and wifi. Not posh. The food was good especially the Haitian style dishes and the complementary breakfast. A fairly quite and unassuming place. With ones car, one can make it quickly to Petionville, a quick drive "up the hill." At night, a smooth ride to down town Port au Prince. I paid about $68 a night...I thought very reasonable and a decent value.

This hotel was great and we loved it! From check-in to check-out everything was done with care and speed. Definitely not a big hotel but it’s right in the city and close to everything. This is haiti but to me for a small mom and pop hotel this place did it all. I loved it and when I come back to visit the family I we will stay here.

TV Cable, AC, Water heater, breakfast, Restaurant, Wifi, Conference room, Gym, Transport, Tripp in town, Spa etc...
I had a horrible stay at La Pepiniere. Although the location was nice and peaceful! My room was changed three times due to broken faucets and no space for my luggage in the room which was in the corner of the hallway on the 4th floor. Then I was moved to a room with dirty walls with dirty shower curtains. I was finally moved to a room with no shower curtain and where I could hear everything that was happening in the room across the hallway and downstairs with a band group who behaved like they're the only one in the hotel. The pool was not well maintained. But, the people were nice to me when I got sick from something. They were very kind in making me tea and advised me on what not to eat until my stomach was settled. The food was OK. A lot of things need updating. The rooms are not clean to hotel standards.

Hotel Elite aims to be a place of welcome for all those who visit Haiti for professional reasons or of tourist activities .
We were looking for a nice place for supper and ended up at the Elite Hotel as I was familiar with the bar area from previous walking visits. The supper menu is basic, but all the food groups are represented. My wife and I shared an appetizer and then the bbq chicken. It was a very good sized piece of chicken and very delicious. We took 1/2 home for the next day's lunch. It's not cheap here, and the Heineken beer were $6.00 each which is the most expensive I have seen in Haiti. But the food was good. It was a Sunday night and there was live music. It was a nice volume which allowed us to also visit with new friends over supper. They have a nice bar which was very busy due in part to the good music. The grounds are quite nice and there isn't any road noise. You can park in their compound which is safe and secure. Our server was a young woman, likely fresh out of hospitality school. She had an amazing smile and made all of us feel welcome. But in Haitian tradition, three trips are made back and forth for everything when one would do, C'est la vie ici ! :) All in all, although a little expensive, it was a very nice evening.

The people here were very nice and the man who picked me up and dropped me off was a smiley ray of sun. The room I was in was pretty basic and I'd say the bed was typical. To any American traveling to Haiti and considering this guesthouse I would offer two pieces to consider. First, get your travel to and from the guesthouse set up in advance. I was traveling in from Jacmel on a bus and really didn't know what I was doing and got myself into a bit of a pickle because no one spoke French or English and I didn't know where I was and there were no cabs. I paid a bus driver to take me almost there, but they couldn't find the guesthouse (it worked out fine because Auberge picked me up at the store), but just be aware of the challenges of getting around Haiti if you're from outside. You may or may not get a cell signal, but calls may be hard and although most people will say "ask someone to call for you", Haitians pay for their minutes and they can't really afford to. One man offered to call for $40. The best deal I got was $10 to make the call. Secondly, you don't really see many regular car/truck taxis outside of the airport. So, most people take a motorcycle taxi or TapTap. They're cheap, but if you have luggage or don't speak creole, they may be a no go. Second, there is no food here. Most other places in the the world that wouldn't be a big deal, but you can't really go out by yourself with the current situation and absolutely not after dark. So, bring your own food or maybe ask them if they would go get you something for a fee (I'm sure they would, if there was someone around, but there was just one car and I was alone most of the time in the house). Not to panic though, they have beer!

Our accommodations include a Bed & Breakfast, Apartments and Suites all in two different locations throughout the surrounding Port Au Prince Area. The Bed & Breakfast is for single and double occupancy and the apartments and suites vary from studio to three bedrooms fully furnished with A/C and fan.
I’ve been coming to Complexe Tropical for years. Owners are amazing, accommodating, and fair. There can be issues with power or internet from time to time but it’s Haiti, and if you expect more, you’re a fool... Views of Jalouzie and interaction with ppl from Jalouzie are an added bonus if you speak Creole. I’ve never felt unsafe or underserved here. Versus hotels in the area, Complexe Tropical is a win all around.
