Wonderful dinner overlooking Asknish Bay

Reviewed By 471libbyl

My husband and I had a lovely dinner at the Loch Melfort Hotel while we were staying in the area. The food was fantastic and we had a table looking out over the bay and the field of goats, rabbits, chickens and highland cattle. A walk down the path to the waterfront was the perfect way to end the evening.

The Scot

New modern accommodation in the heart of Oban. Family - owned property, which has been fully refurbished and designed to attract you.

Nice hotel - but needs more staff

Reviewed By Robert H

Newly refurbished hotel with decent sized room, a massive bed and feather pillows (big plus). Vey good shower and toiletries supplied. Free car parking at the rear (though limited and with the usual number of selfish parkers who take up two spaces - be better if they were marked). No evening meals and breakfast had to be pre-booked which is not a problem. Very good breakfast with a good choice. Lovely coffee and hot toast. The only downside was that there only seemed to be one person on duty and they disappeared at times so reception and the bar were unmanned with rather longer waiting times than is reasonable for a hotel of this category.

Friendly, comfortable, and they know their whisky!

What a wonderful stay we had at the Whisky Vaults. We came with a group to Oban with lots of plans and requests for both information and help. Well before we even arrived, John and Helen helped make it a great vacation. Our room was clean and cozy, with a very comfortable bed and everything we needed to start each day (including a packed breakfast). Throughout our visit, the entire staff was wonderful to us, and we all found the bar staff more than willing to share their whisky expertise with us. The entire group had a wonderful stay, and I'm pretty sure every one of us would book again there on a return trip to Oban.

It was OK

Reviewed By Anne S

Good car park and we had a nice view from our room. The initial impression we had of the reception area and the corridors was that the place generally needed some TLC. The window in our room was very draughty. We had our evening meal at the hotel and it was ok. Overall our stay was ok.

A gem of a find

Reviewed By emmalittleb

As we approached this hotel, my husband (who’d booked it as a birthday surprise) muttered “based on my phone calls with these guys, I’ve got a good feeling about this place”. How right he was; what a gem of a pub/hotel/restaurant. The welcome was warm and genuine and our room was modern, spankingly clean and sleekly furnished (with a stunning view of the harbour). We sank a couple of pints in the public bar (a “proper pub” with good beers and lots of friendly chatter) before enjoying a really excellent dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast the next morning was also good (esp the smoked haddock). We will definitely stay again; it’s highly convenient for the island ferries without having to be in Oban.

What a Gem!

Reviewed By OztrekkersDaughter

It's years since I have stayed in a B&B so I had pre-conceived ideas of old! How wrong could you be?? Rose Villa was the find of our trip and a big shout out to the hosts Jacqueline & Stuart. Photos don't do it justice - it's one of those places where the owners must have said 'what would we like in our own boutique hotel stay?' and then added all of those little extra touches in. We stayed in the fabulous ground floor room A. It had a bathroom that was out of this world (as well as separate shower & loo). Free standing bath for 2, chaise lounge, robes, G&T, snacks, beautiful decor - all a great big tick. Almost didn't want to post a review in case we can't get booked again next time we stay....
