Located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, The Mariner King Inn majestically stands in the heart of Old Town Lunenburg. The Inn, built in 1830, has undergone extensive renovations restoring the old and melding it with the needs of today's travellers. The Inn has three rooms and two suites in the original building, while the Cranberry and Candy Apple additions add six suites and three rooms with a more contemporary, mariner theme in mind. All rooms have luxurious, environmentally conscious and allergy free queen or king size beds, en-suite bathrooms, WiFi, TV (dvd), minibar, safe, telephone, and air-conditioning. Other amenities include good morning breakfast buffett, business center, exercise room, cosy parlour, winter garden, and laundry facility.
We truly enjoyed our stay from start to finish. We arrived after the office closed, but were greeted with a welcome letter and clear guidelines about how to access our room. Effort has been made to preserve the historical integrity of the inn while integrating the comforts of modern life. The location was convenient for attending our concert at The Lunenburg Opera House. The room was comfortable and clean. The inn managed to provide a delicious breakfast in a COVID safe manner. The dining area is bright and spacious. We will certainly plan to return.

Somewhere between a boutique Inn and a gracious home sits the Bluenose Lodge offering elegant hospitality in a relaxed atmosphere. Celebrating 75 years of continuous service in the UNESCO World Heritage designated town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Spend an evening in our elegant historic inn and enjoy the ambiance of yesteryear. Bluenose Lodge features 12 individually decorated guestrooms. Our newly re-opened dining room serves breakfast and supper to inn guests and members of the public. Bluenose Lodge is located a short 5 minute walk to the harbour and the historic old town where guests might see the inn's namesake, the Bluenose II, in its home port located beside the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. Lunenburg itself is a charming community known for its shops, boutiques, restaurants and its arts and music festivals. Bluenose Lodge is a great base for discovering the entire South Shore of Nova Scotia - a short drive to Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, Chester, many beaches, golf courses, and a wide array of other outdoor activities.
I had the recent privilege of staying at the Bluenose Lodge for a long weekend with dear friends. The food in the dining room was beyond exceptional and the new owner, Mark Trask, has done wonders in reinvigorating the Inn and instilling a comfortable and welcoming environment. Can’t wait to go back!

If you were born and raised on the East Coast of Canada, you know that the heart of everything good and right in this world happens in the kitchen! The kitchen is where you’ll find the best parties, the best food, the best conversations. The Kitchen Party, or Ceilidh as it’s known here, is centered around Nova Scotia’s world-famous hospitality – and that’s where our philosophy is based! Take. Eat. Easy. The kitch’inn is unlike any other B&B that you’ll come across on your travels. Quirky, slightly off kilter and an experience in itself, we are not your typical Bed and Breakfast. Boasting modern amenities, exquisitely designed large suites, luxe bedding and mouth-watering breakfasts...you probably won’t want to leave. So don’t. The hospitality here is epic! Stay a while, raise a glass with us and yell “sociable” at the top of your lungs!
We stayed at this wonderful B&B last year (2021). We were 4 couples so all rooms were occupied by us. A lovely warm welcome by owner, Danielle. The perfect hostess. Breakfast the next morning was ‘to die for’. We raved about the delicious food and hospitality for a long time, vowing to return in 2022. We did return to the Kitch’inn in May as a girlfriends’ getaway, super excited to not only be away but to encounter last year’s experience again. This time there was no warm welcome as bookings and arrivals are done online and keys are available upon entering the residence. We didn’t mind and chalked it up to the sign of the times. Our rooms were just as we remembered and being only 4 of us this time, we stayed in the Nautical Nellie Suite and Purple Grooviness Suite. The rooms are lovely, bright and cheery. We had reservations for dinner that night at the attached small restaurant called Betty’s. The pizzas are delicious, the service was commendable. Thank you on a job well done. We had a wonderful chat with Betty, very friendly. Now this is where our awaited return went south. And, I guess I have to take the blame as I never read the ‘fine print’ of our reservation. Kitch’inn is no longer a B&B! It’s now a Boutique Hotel, thus no morning breakfast. The breakfast last fall, when we were there, was so spectacular, it was a drawing card for our return. Same nightly rate but no breakfast. So, being 8 in the morning we found a place just down the street to have a muffin and a coffee. We enjoyed our stay but that breakfast last year was a ‘top notch, want to return experience.’

All seven rooms in our our establishment have absolutely outstanding views overlooking the Lunenburg Harbour.
First off, the seafood chowder would have been enough! More meat ( scallops, fish, clams etc) to turn it into a meal by itself. But we then had the Lunenburg Scallop dinner. ..not to be confused with the Atlantic scallop plate. Top this off with the Service of a lovely young lady named Emma and you’ll have experienced a great time.

First off the lady at check in, Jenny was super nice and friendly. It's a small thing but sometimes it makes a big difference. The room was clean and stocked with extra pillows and fans which was great. The room was very big so we didn't feel cramped at all. The hotel was dated which wasn't really a big deal except for the price. It was over $160 with no breakfast. The wifi worked really well so that was a plus. I would go back if I was stuck but not because the place was poor or anything the price was really steep.

Mama's by the sea is a cozy Bed & Breakfast, Located on Cape Sable Island, Follow Route 330 across the causeway and you are in the birthplace of the world renowned Cape Islander- those brightly colored fishing boats you see at wharves, bays and harbours dotting the coast. Seafood, including lobster is always on the menu. Here too, is one the best birding sites in Nova Scotia and a designated Important Bird Area. Miles of white sand beaches offer you great vistas of the ocean. Wiggle your toes in the sand, fly a kite, stroll the beaches, listen to the pounding surf. This is where the Bay of Fundy meets the Atlantic Ocean. The tallest lighthouse in Nova Scotia- the Cape Sable Light at 101 ft. tall is viewed best from the most southerly point – The Hawk. Enjoy the 28 miles of white sand beaches – take a picnic, listen to the gulls, watch the many species of shorebirds and just relax.
My wife and I stayed here for one night during our recent drive around the southern shore. Kim's place is in a fantastic location, close to Hawk Beach. Our room was really nice, and the couch in the common area comes complete with a dog to cuddle. We really enjoyed chatting with Kim, and she's a fantastic host! Will definitely stay here again if we're in the area!

Inner Harbor Inn is Shelburne's Newest Accommodations. We are located on Shelburne's Historic Waterfront.
We arrived to find the place closed at 6:30pm despite calling ahead, called the owner who arrived within 10 mins, pub and restaurant downstairs is permanently closed to our disappointment as we was hungry and most places close at 8pm it was 7:30, web site says it’s open until 9pm. Started to pay which was $175 with taxes, then we got asked why we skipped the tip menu!!, room was ok but heating was off and cold so it was freezing, the owner said he didn’t have time to switch it on. Kitchenette comprised of mini fridge which was off and a coffee maker, microwave was in the hallway. Not impressed.

The Salt Shaker Deli and Inn, is one of Lunenburg's most beloved destinations for local residents and visitors alike. Award winning dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients from the Deli makes staying upstairs in the cozy four room Inn an easy choice. Newly renovated rooms with breathtaking views of the historic Lunenburg harbour. Please note that like most other accommodations in this Unesco town, we do not have a parking lot so the option is street parking or the town's waterfront lot. Also, we are located on the second floor and are currently unable to accommodate mobility issues.
Check in was easy at the deli below the rooms. A flight of stairs up to the room but not particularly difficult. The room was beautifully decorated with a small but more than adequate bathroom with a good shower. The view from the room across the harbour was amazing. The bed was very comfortable and we both enjoyed a good sleep. Relatively little storage for clothes, but as we were there only for one night, that was not a problem. I would definitely stay again if in Lunenburg.

Where history, modern conveniences and superb service meet. Popular photo stop in the heart of town. New owners Daniel and Miriam are delighted to preserve the history and add a little of their caring touches to welcome each guest as a friend. The gardens are beutiful and rooms elequent and spotless.
At the time of writing the Introduction above is out-of-date, in that "New owners Elke and Scott" are no more and it should read "New owners Miriam & Daniel" (who with those names could be from any part of the English-speaking world but in fact are a relatively young Swiss couple who speak Swiss-German as well as good English). You can therefore safely gloss over most of the glowing reviews that follow and just read those from 2019 onwards... That said, nothing has changed in terms of the fixtures and fittings; it is still beautifully decorated with the common areas in a very clean primrose colour; still run by a very charming and helpful couple; and breakfast is taken around a communal table, albeit at a time to suit each guest's chosing. This was the first of quite a few B&Bs and Inns we stayed at during our holiday and it certainly got us off to a good start. It is centrally-located within Mahone Bay and has off-road car parking to the rear, although one can also park in the street outside. We stayed for three nights out of our three-week tour of Nova Scotia and used it as a base from which to explore Lunenburg, LaHave and Blue Rocks [before heading up to Digby & Annapolis Royal]. So, although the managment has changed, the good news is it remains a great little B&B!
