Nestled inland and away from its flashier French Riviera neighbors, Narbonne embraces a slower pace of life. The sleepy Canal de la Robine slices through this former river port, where salt marshes and lagoons filled with fishing boats draw plenty of artists but few tourists.

We stayed for 3 nights with Aurelie and Alex . The guesthouse is rural, clean and quiet and the hosts are a charming young couple. A pleasant garden where meals can be taken in both evening and morning. Food is good quality. If you arrive back before 5pm after a day out you may have difficulty entering if this has not been pre arranged ( but can use the very comfortable seating in the garden) . We booked through booking.com and misunderstood the need to send a cheque or make an international bank transfer for the first nights accommodation , which is a bit embarrassing , so be ready for this possible complication .

'Logement Our' chambres & gîtes is a 15 minute drive from Narbonne. This chambre d 'hôte is a beautifully renovated maisson de maitre, located in the idyllic village of Raissac d' Aude and surrounded by vineyards of Corbières. The spacious rooms are stylishly decorated and each room has an ensuite bathroom with rain shower. The apartment in the house also has a kitchen and a living room with a comfortable double sofa bed. This makes it suitable for 4 guests. The 100 m2 gite has two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room and kitchen. Enjoy a delicious breakfast, one of the table d hôte evenings and the garden with swimming pool while enjoying a good glass of regional wine on our terrace.
Ed and Fred are the nicest hosts. They are fluent in French, German, English and Dutch. We arrived past midnight due to a long delay, and they assured us that it was no trouble at all and they were both awake to greet us upon arrival. The communication was swift and effortless through email. The breakfast was splendid with lots of options; homemade smoothies, jam and pastries, but also whole grain bread and cheese. The house was beautiful and our room was spacious and decorated in rural style, but modernised with modern ventilation/heating and electric installations. The bed was the best we had tried in France. Parking was behind the property, no issues. We wished we had booked a few night more and would recommend this place to friends and family.

Just steps from downtown to Narbonne , the Villa Ambrosia , guest house and residence of exception, opens its doors in one of the regional cultural capitals of the Languedoc . At the heart of that which name is "the daughter of Rome", protected by a monumental Medieval, the Robine canal tributary of the Canal du Midi , runs quiet days. Along the former Mecca of wine trade docks you will discover this former winemaker Chai turned into a guest house that offers a cozy setting for your stay in Narbonne : a green gem and town serenity in a refined atmosphere. Ideally located near the historical and tourist area of Narbonne, the main cultural sites and the immense beaches of Narbonne-Plage and Gruissan this accommodation in Narbonne favors traditional atmospheres, intimate and modern, you will travel across the world. His Zen garden , the indoor pool in the center of the house, its original and refined decoration and brightness, make this place a haven of peace and well being. This omni vegetation provides unmatched ambience urban center. The Jacuzzi , the massage room (by reservation) and fireplace and cozy daybed, complete your desire for relaxation and rest.
Frank Sinatra did it "My Way" and the charming ladies who own and run Villa Ambrosia have their own distinctive style in this funky but passionately unique B&B. The decoration and greenery suggest world travelers and folks that can't resist brocante shopping plus family heirlooms. Everything might not strike your fancy, but it all coalesces into a relaxing and whimsical whole built around a large indoor pool and enough plants and trees to compete with a botanical nursery. Our room, "Shabby" was comfortable with a premium bed and a fine rainwater shower. A memorable breakfast is essential for any self-respecting B&B, and Villa Ambrosia scores well on this checklist. A very minor quibble: wished they used more substantial paper napkins, but everything else on the table was delightful. A caution, if you are arriving by car: Allee Ambrosia is at a sharp angle off the main road, quai de Lorraine. You and/or your GPS might miss it, and that can be annoying and stressful. There are a cluster of tiny public parking spaces outside their gate and room for only a few cars inside. It would be prudent to reserve same if you have a large car or visible luggage when the car trunk is too small. This place grew on us. You may not have all the "mod cons" of a modern hotel (you might have to pull a cord out of a lamp socket to charge your laptop or phone), but you will be staying at a distinctive and singular hostelry that you will remember with fondness.

Our second time there. The first was during winter so to see all the colour around the grounds and the beautiful roses was just magical! As always, Jan and Cynthia provided a wonderful experience. Breakfast was magnificent and it was great to feel such a positive energy around the hotel. A peaceful place to ease the mind. Can't wait to be back.

It's a long old drive from Southern Spain to the Eurotunnel, and as my Wife and I were sharing the driving for a change, we decided to stop just once approximately half way between. I guestimated the area and began to look for the usual chain overnight stays close to the motorway. Then I saw cats mentioned. I love cats, so it just goes to show what can influence a decision. Had a look at the website for the accommodation, read the reviews and decided. I sent a Facebook message the day before we travelled (I never was very organized) and fortunately the owner responded quickly, and had a room available for the three of us, It was very easy to find with sat nav. Parking on the road just outside was free and plentiful. The place has real character and atmosphere and feels like it has a story to tell. Beds were comfy. Plenty of hot water for shower and a bath to revive after a 600 mile drive. I had asked the owner, Michelle, for dinner recommendations and she pointed us to the most enjoyable place on the canal du midi, with a selection or restaurants and live music. A great atmosphere and excellent food. Beds were comfy. Heat was stifling as anyone in central Europe knows at the moment. Breakfast was served in the courtyard and the coffee and home made preserves did not disappoint. My daughter loved her hot chocolate. A sneaky slice or two of banana cake whilst sitting under the grape vines did the trick and set us up for the second arduous drive, that sadly skirted Paris and all the joys that holds with roadworks. Then on to the hugely delayed trains. Made me wish I'd stayed for longer at La Demeure Du Pressoir. Michelle (and the cats) made for a lovely break in our journey, and the fact that she spoke perfect English meant I didn't have to try and use my schoolboy French.

Great location on a quite side street. On arrival we buzzed and the owner came right away. We were just off a barge in the south of France so we had two large suitcases with handbags. We dragged our bags through the narrow door and looked. up a narrow staircase. Our hostess pointed upwards and I carried the first suitcase up to the first landing. I went back and grabbed the second bag. The first floor had the lobby desk. We checked in and our hostess said our room was on the third floor. I let out a great sigh and took the first suitcase up a narrow winding staircase, hit the second landing and pushed onward like a seaoned traveller to the third floor. The room was large and nice looking out on the beautiful Cathedral. I asked our hostess if I could leave the second bag on the first floor. There was no way I was lugging it up two flights of winding stairs. In the morning there was fresh rolls, and our fridge was stocked with juice, cheese, water and yogurt. I would give this B&B a qualified recommendation, for those who can walk up a lot of stairs and travels light. There is no help from staff or travel assistance as the owner only spoke limited English. The hostess did not offer to get anyone to help with the luggage. When we left the next morning I had to take the luggage back down, quite a challenge and we left. The owner was no where to be found. You get a code to exit and enter the front door.

This is a working winery with 5 rooms for guests. The photos are very true to what you get which is welcoming hospitality, free parking, comfortable rooms with vineyard views, excellent breakfast including home made yoghurt, access to the kitchen at night and a large common lounging room. It is too farm from town to walk but is well situated for drivers to access local sites and amenities. Host Laurent has good English but wife Cathy's is limited.

Adresse en or !
