Castel Bigozzi, one of the oldest and embattled castles of this area, rises in the land of Strove. In the Middle Ages this castle belonged to the ancestors of the ancient noble Montanini Family. Its coats of arms well relates its history: a red shield, like the earth that surrounds it, a black lion, symbol of courage and battles, glory and defeat .Historical chronicles in fact report that it was a place of refuge and protection for Ghibelline troops. Today, Castel Bigozzi is a hotel residence, offering hospitality to guests from the four corners of the world.A place of antique charm, immersed in the stillness of the Tuscan countryside, where you will feel enveloped by the warmth of the hospitable environment and by the richness of a land that speaks the language of Art, History, Nature and Traditions. An ideal place to find peace and to spend a totally relaxing holiday, in a land that never fails to surprise all year around. To Nature lovers this area offers many pathways for outings on foot, mountain bike or on horseback, following trails of bygone days, bringing the wanderer to breath-taking landscapes like the famous "Crete" of Siena (the Senese Clavey Hills), the Chianti, or one of the many thermal springs of the area
Just returned from a long weekend at Hotel Castel Bigozzi. The setting is just fantastic. We were part of a group friends with children and took over most of the rooms. The staff were great especially Theresa, Rachelle and Natasha; it made the stay so much more enjoyable. Would love to return.

Our bed and breakfast is located between Monteriggioni castle and Siena, at a few miles from the beautiful Sienese Montagnola. It's a family runned lodge, with only 12 cozy, comfortable rooms. We offer a rich Tuscan breakfast (cold cuts, cheese, fresh pastry, bread-butter-jam, warm drinks, etc).
We stayed near to this little gem which became our local eatery. The staff are wonderful and translated the menu to us, being celiac I was concerned there wouldn’t be anything for me to eat except salads! I was gladly mistaken and there were several dishes on the menu I could have. We ate some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. If you are in Tuscany do yourselves a favour and call in for lunch, you won’t regret it!

Borgo Gallinaio datas back to 1400. It shows the deep heart of Tuscan soul, made of warm shades (hues), simple heart and uniqueness. Here you can enjoy a refined environment where nothing is casual, yet cozy and simply home-like in the true heart of Tuscany. Restaurant At Borgo Gallinaio you can experience the feeling of a modern cuisine with deep roots in the traditions of past times. Unforgettable dining experiences featuring the most authentic Tuscan tradition, genuine tastes and flavours, with the addition of a top quality regional wine selection, all this is waiting for you to discover at our restaurant.
We stayed here for 4 nights in July. It’s well off the beaten track, about 2 km from Monteriggioni but offers a great base from which to explore the region. We had the Cipresse room which was comfortable, clean overlooking the olive grove with a great bathroom. It had a small fridge and air con. The hotel is run with a small team of staff who work very hard, and whilst they weren’t particularly chatty if you needed anything they were very accommodating. Breakfast was good although they made a charge for omelettes which seemed a bit odd as boiled eggs were offered as part of the buffet. We didn’t eat here in the evening. Great pool situated away from the main building in a wooded area, so offered shade and was very peaceful. Yes the road is bumpy it just requires careful navigation. I wouldn’t recommend staying here without your own transport. Lovely location.

Words can not describe how we felt when we arrived at the hotel, it felt like paradise on earth. Roberto and Stephanie are the most fabulous hosts who make you feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble for them. Everywhere on the walls is the most fantastic artwork that the couple have collected and if you are into music Roberto has a fine collection of records. We asked for a traditional Tuscan evening meal and they didn't disappoint us. Breakfast was out on the patio with a vast choose of items, from yogurts, pastry's and omelettes. The B&B has a beautiful little church attached to the house that offers weddings and baptisms. In fact I would say it's the perfect place to get married. We would return in a heartbeat.

" I Platani" is a small and intimate Hotel just 4 km from the historic center of Siena, located in the quiet northern suburb of the city. Recently renovated, the hotel has spacious and bright rooms, all with private bathroom, television, telephone, heating. Some rooms have air conditioning. The Hotel is located on the Cassia Nord, the ancient road that once connected Rome with Florence and in even more remote, was one of the most important pilgrimage routes in Europe, the famous Via Francigena. The Hotel has been recently refurbished, its main feature is the family atmosphere. Guests feel at home, everything is very nice, the property and the staff are always ready to satisfy every need of guest. The Hotel has private parking and a terrace where in summer you can have breakfast.
Very good hotel. We had a big room with good furniture. The breakfast is good (better than other Italian hotels). They serve very good coffee from a real coffee machine. The personnel very friendly. Bus stop close by to go to the beautiful city of Siena.

L'Aia Country Holidays, only 1 km far from Siena, consists of a delightful group of lovingly renovated farm buildings and offer you the best of the both worlds, with the atmosphere and views of the Tuscan countryside coupled with the convenience of Siena pretty much on your door step...At L'Aia Country Holidays you'll find a big park of olive trees with play for kids, soccer and volley, a swimming pool 6x12 meters and the possibility to rent bikes.
We stayed at L´Aia 4 nights. We expected the place to be further from the main city (as it has "country" in the name) on a calmer place. So when we arrived, we were a bit surprised how close to the city and main road it is. And the other road was just behind our room, (we stayed in an apartment on the second floor), so you heard every single car passing through. That disturbed me specially at night. The room was clean and nice, but the bed worst I´ve slept in years - when my partner moved it woke me up, as the whole bad was swinging and shaking. The garden was very nice, with a swiming pool. But sitting infront of the building wasn´t possible for a long time, as there was many hungry mosquitos.:-) The breakfast was simple, but ok.

Plus: proximity to Siena, accommodation in the middle of vineyards in a nice environment, daily cleaning (maybe unnecessary for a 5-day stay), friendly home - Giacomo with his wife and daughter Minus: Only one (the largest) of the four burners was functional; the washing machine was full of 5 centimeters of hair and has a dysfunctional spindrier; windows are not mosquito nets, during 5 nights was 2x to hear a very noisy music production from the village of Quercegrossa, no or very weak WIFI

The property is incredible, the views are stunning, but the hospitality is what really makes Borgo de Brandi extraordinary. The staff is so helpful, genuine and truly kind, we have never felt so welcome as guests at any property as we did here. Special thanks to conceirge Georgia, who went above and beyond in so many ways, including arranging a chef to teach us how to make pasta right onsite. We did not have access to a car and found it easy to walk into Monteriggioni each evening for dinner. A truly enchanting property with breathtaking views. We loved every minute of our time here. We hope to be able to come back again someday and highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
