Some may think that the name of the hotel, its location right before the monasteries pushed me to write what follows. But it's only thanks to Nikolaos and his team. First we arrived very late, around 10PM. Nikolaos, the owner, immediately welcomed us like we were family warning us that his restaurant may close soon in case we were hungry. Intrigued by the lively noise coming from there, we followed his advice and what a tremendous surprise! Food was good, as in many greek tavernas. But the service was truly exceptionnal! As I confessed to him, I've been to many fancy restaurants but never met a crew so passionate about their jobs. They are swift, smiling, caring and remember everything about you. You feel special when being there, and it is not surprising that we came back there the next day and ended up in a bar all together.

I've never seen the line of the shower curtain installed outside of a shower pan's footprint but here it is and water goes exactly where it shouldn't - out into the bathroom floor. This is also my first time seeing a lavatory faucet extend almost to the rim of the sink. At full tilt, the water shoots beyond the sink rim onto the floor. Also, the odor of stale cigarettes permeates all. I could live with all the above for a short duration however the detail that really sunk this place was the squeaky bathroom door in a family suite. How difficult is it to spritz some oil into the hinges? Perhaps their family clientele wanted to a loud wakeup courtesy of the bathroom door?

Quant guesthouse conveniently located in Kastraki. The owner was so welcoming & attentive giving us bottles of water as our rooms were made ready. The rooms are small but well maintained. The rooms had balconies which afforded a wonderful view of the nearby rock formations. Rooms have air conditioning. The hotel is kept very clean. Breakfast is served both inside and outside (small courtyard at the front ). Good breakfast with bread ? , jams ? , coffee ☕️ (very tasty) , a hardboiled egg ?, & yoghurt. The owner also gave great recommendations on nearby tavernas & stores.

The guesthouse "Arsenis" is located in the eastern area of Meteora, in the mid of an olive grove, with fantastic view to the rocks, the thessalian valley and the mountains of Pindos. Fully equipped rooms with A/C, TV, bathroom and WC in each room, central heating, fireplace in the reception, free high speed Internet access, a restaurant and above all traditional greek hospitality and family atmosphere.
This is our second time at Arsenis Guesthouse as we love the view of pristine hills and olive groves that the rooms offer. The location is also perfect as it is just off the East Road that leads up to the monasteries which makes the place both perfectly well-connected and quiet at the same time. For information, this is right on the other side from where the majority of the hostels/hotels are located which is a huge plus for me as it keeps me away from the noise and that touristy feel.. The rooms, though plain, are very clean and towels are changed daily. Each room has its own ample balcony with a table and two chairs. There is a good wi-fi connection that is freely available. I could take a small bottle of mineral water from the fridge each day at no charge. They offer continental breakfast (EUR 7) and dinner (EUR 12). The dinner, from what I understood, consists of barbecue meat with fries and a Greek salad cooked on the spot by the hosts. There are plenty of tables both indoors and outside on the large verandah with a magnificent view of the hills and olive groves. The air there feels crystal clean. The hosts are members of the Arsenis family: two sons (Kostas and Panos), mother (Vasiliki) and father. Kostas is basically in charge and his Mum helps with the cooking. Kostas is quite a character as has been testified by some of the reviewers. You can see that he loves the place that they have created and wishes that many people from all over the world come and stay with them. He can come across as clumsy in his manners but I had no problem with it as I even found his idiosyncrasies quite amusing. After you take a room he always asks if you are also having your dinner with them. We chose not to and instead went to town to our favourite restaurant/tavern, Archontariki (13 Trikalon Riga Fereou Square, Kalambaka). There is also a lovely orchard on the property with cherry, fig, crimson and quince trees. Kostas gave me a jar of quince jam as a gift before we left. Nice!

On the foothills of Meteora, at the old square of Kastraki (called Mesochori by the villagers) you'll see a unique building which has stood there since 1845. The Ministry of Culture has pronounced it "protected". The building has recently been restored and it is ready to welcome you.It was refurbished with respect to the local architecture. The materials, stone and wood are the same as 160 years ago. A traditional guesthouse of the highest standards.
Beautiful place and amazing setting. The room was comfortable and clean. The overall setting very rustic and the service very spotty. The breakfast very weak- only packaged stuff quite disappointing. The value for money was reasonable.

Great place to stay when visiting Meteora; the staff is very friendly and gives you advises how to get to the Monasteries and the surrounded areas. The rooms are ok; for the price you get a good place to stay; clean and comfortable and well located; seems far from the train station but is not a bad walk and you get to see places where you can eat and get stuff.

Nice hotel, a bit old but clean and quite. We were there for one night on the way to our final destination in Greece. Swimming pool is nice but I never swiim in such a cold water, like it was with inside :) Breakfast was very poor, and it is not something that satisfied my taste. Maybe it was subjective but this is my opininon. At the end, lady on reception was so unpleasent that I think made my picture about this place even worst. She is probably the owner but the way of her attitude showed me she is not for this bussines. I am sure we will not stay next time there,

Meteora is an exceptional place on earth and staying at Vavitsas made it as an unforgettable experience. Vavitsas is on the foothills of the rocks in the quiet village of Kastraki... at the walking distance of St.Nicholas monastry. The receptionist was very helpful and was so kind enough to order food delivery for dinner. He also showed me how to use the coffee-maker so that I can make coffee whenever I want (something I enjoy during holidays). The guesthouse & room were so clean and the balcony had an awesome view of the entire valley. I can't stop thinking of coming back to Meteora and staying again at Vavitsas.
