Home to the oldest university in Germany, Heidelberg was hit hard during 17th-century wars and rebuilt in the 18th century with baroque buildings. For a pleasant walk, stroll through the historic city center's Gothic streets. Be sure to take in Heidelberg Castle, the symbolic heart of the city; Alte Brucke, a beautiful 18th-century bridge; and the Student Jail. Built as long ago as the 16th century, it was used to keep mischievous students off the streets for three days to a month at a time. And they say Penn State is the number-one party school!

Modern, clean hotel on the opposite bank of the river from the Heidelberg old town. Line 5 on the tram gets you here from the main train station. The entry to Philosphenweg is just down the road. The windows on the third floor capped the street noise reasonably well but I used a noise app on my phone to sleep. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Shower was large with plenty of pressure. Wifi was spotty. If you can handle public transportation, this is a good spot to explore Heidelberg.

We spent as a family a weekend at this fantastic hotel and loved it absolutely. The hotel is new and the interior modern. All double rooms have a seat window, where you can watch the market happenings on Saturday. The hotel is very clean and you feel very comfortable. In addition, the hotel is located very good and is a great starting point for discovering Heidelberg. The owners are very hospitable and helpful in any matters. We felt very comfortable all around. We'll be back for sure!

Service is bad, attitude of the staff is even worse and breakfast is the saddest thing. Don’t even try. Terrible beds, awfully dirty roms. Only good thing is the location, but except from that, nothing good. I will never come back! One of the staff woman was very nice though. German-american girl with curly hair was the one person who made the stay great. Nicest person i Germany, really!

The establishment "Hotel Schnookeloch ***" is not a hotel, It is something like B&B. There is no Lobby, no reception, no housekeeping even not a dinning breakfast room. For getting a key, you go to another Hotel, The same is to get the breakfast. You have a telephone in the room, but there is no and way to call anybody in the establishment. There is no lift and the staircase in the establishment is not strait, it is a spiral staircase so, climbing to the room with a suitcase can be tricky and dangerous. The room itself was so small, it was like a single room that a bed was added

This cozy hotel has a perfect location in the old Heidelberg. Service is great and everything is clean and nice. We enjoyed the restaurant which has no-nonsense German food. Everything in the old town is in reach by walking distance from the hotel.

After we toured the castle we wandered around the town and came upon this cafe. What a delightful place. The cakes on display looked like a culinary feast. After making our difficult choice, we added their latte macciato with our selection. They have a nice menu for lunch and dinner.
